Must-Have Safety Device for Campers and Hikers
I recently took the Sound Grenade on a camping trip, and it gave me peace of mind! The alarm is 130db loud and the small size makes it so easy to carry with me on my back-pack. It was easy to make a trip wire alarm with the extra hook at the bottom and set it up around my camp. The rugged design and water-resistant hold up well outdoors. It is obviously a necessary accessory for any traveler.

Seems to work well
No extra batteries as mentioned in the ad but it seems to work well enough. this is why the 4 star rating. I don't know if it's 130db, I thought it would be uncomfortably loud. It's loud but not ear piercing loud. The two pieces are a rather tight fit and I hope it will loosen up over time.

the noise is incredible
The noise this device made is too much and helps you to keep the creatures away in your hiking trips even in the mountains.

Thank you Amazon
Note, I reserve five star reviews for items that far exceed my exceptions. If something does the job it was designed for well It gets four stars. Four stars is very good, five is above and beyond. This review has three parts: the BASU alarm, Amazon, and the USPS.For the BASU alarm itself, a solid four stars. Very nice, sturdy and sufficiently loud to get the attention you need. I liked it so much I ordered another one for my sister and have subsequently ordered five more for Christmas gifts. My only grip is that BASU seams to has discontinued this model which is a shame because the loops on both ends gives the user more options for deployment. I can hook the alarm to a backpack or computer bag and the other end to a fixed object and it my bag tries to “run away” the alarm will be tripped. Or I can loop it around a hotel room door knob with some paracord and have an impromptu room alarm. You can’t do that with models with a loop on just one end. I e-mailed BASU to ask if it had in fact been discontinued, but never heard back from them. Now for Amazon - five stars. The second one I ordered was shipped in a timely manor but was lost by the USPS. When it was determined my package was missing, Amazon gave me the options of canceling or re-ordering it. I chose to re-order. I re-ordered it on Sept. 30th at 7:17 p.m. and it was delivered at 3:52 p.m. the next day. Yes, less than 24 hours. THANK YOU Amazon. And to the USPS, zero stars. Enough said.

Sound not good
I really liked this used this camping as perimeter alarm. Was really loud what I needed. But after about 4 months of use sound decreased to where it was not loud enough to hear for a short distance away. It was never in weather as far as water kept it covered if inclimate weather was present or approaching.

Great for my daughters, and me...
Bought for my daughters to use, and bought a couple extra for me to use as a perimeter alarm while backpacking and stuff. These are quite loud and easy to use but are secure enough to minimize false alarms. Great for daughters to attach to a keychain. With 2 open ends I can attach a trip-line to the ends and to natural features while out in the field to create a perimeter alarm.

Definitely loud but not easy to carry around and maintain.
This item is definitely loud but could be easier to use. The loop that is used to attach this to any keyring is way too thick. It makes it near impossible to put on or take off any keyring easily. Sometimes I want to detach it from my keyring and I am in for a ten minute project just to remove it. There is also no way to easily change a battery. It chirps presumably when the battery is low. And the chirp is as loud as the alarm. Too loud for an indication that the batt is low. When you want to open it, I wish you good luck. Wear ear protection. I had to find a specially small screw driver to pry this thing open on the edge. I was afraid it would go off and it did. The batteries still had some juice left. So while I am trying to dismantle the thing and pull the batteries out. Its blaring. It takes 2 CR1632s. So I have to buy those and I am sure the minute I put them in this thing is gonna go off again until I hopefully manage to put it back together and reinsert the key. I wish the creators of this thing thought about the maintenance of using and carrying this object on a daily basis. Looks like they only thought about the immediate use during an emergency but forgot about the everyday upkeep and switching the object to different keychains and such. Also I don't know why it appears that this object has a button on the front. The button like shape has absolutely no use so why does it exist.
