Your 12 inches from any heat with the handle length. It' s stainless steel which means it will last basically forever. One reviewer said his handle rusted, that reviewer is probably a troll, stainless does not rust. The silicone brush holds the barbecue sauce and applies it in a nice and easy stroke. You don't have any issues with adding bristles to your food. Some other reviewers complained the silicone bristles wore out much to quickly. Again, if you get to close to the heat that could happen. HQY sells a replacement 3 pack of the silicone bristles for $5.99. They pop in and out in a second. I bought the brush, and the 3 pack. For a grand total of $12.98, I have the handle and four sets of bristles. I can do multiple types of sauce or baste while I am cooking different things. Just pop the brushes in and out, and then clean them up after things are done. They clean real easy. No question, this is the best application tool that I have ever owned.

We love this baster. It is built tough, has a good weight to it, the longer handle is great to use while grilling.

This looks like a very nice brush. Very sturdy & sleek looking with nice silicone bristles. However it’s not as long as I like for a bbq basting brush. I would recommend it if you’re ok with that.

Great little basting brush! I was surprised and pleased with the quality, especially if you factor in price. The handle is firm and you can hook it on your BBQ and the bristles are silicone and can be removed for cleaning. Overall this brush does the job for my grilling needs. Very happy with it.

This brush appears to be made well, using high-quality material. Overall I'm pleased with it, but the title is a tad misleading. It is not "Silicone Bristles with 12 Inch Stainless Steel Handle." It is 12 inches total, including the bristles. The actual handle portion (from neck to butt) is about 9 inches. Still, it's a decent length for grilling and not so unwieldy that it can't be used in the kitchen, as well.To confirm another customer's experience, I, too, have been spammed multiple times by the vendor (HQY Kitchen Tools) to leave a rating and review, even after they have been a) told that seller and product reviews were already submitted, and b) asked not to spam again.

Basting brushes are available everywhere, but I loved the contemporary look of this one. And,when I saw the price, I immediately ordered it. Would definitely recommend it for basting and BBQing!
