My keyboard works but does not light up..is it supposed to light up automatically?

There is a button between FN and CTRL that looks like a cog wheel, tap that and the lights will pop on. There is only one setting on the colors green on the left red in the middle and blue on the right, can't change the colors or make them flash

Will the keyboard and mouse stay on if the USB receiver is unplugged or if its plugged into a wall charger? looking to make a decoy for kid to "use".

The keyboard does turn on if you press a key so you can try just pressing a key(make sure it’s on) but if that doesn’t work try plugging into a wall
