Psalms: An Introduction and Commentary (Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries)

There are many great and detailed reviews out there and I agree with them, this is an awesome book for anyone who wants an in depth understanding of the Psalms.

This is the Best Psalms Commentary I have, and I have bought hundreds of dollars worth of them ! This commentary by Longman III answers many of the question I still have with this book after consulting many other commentaries. Some of the this I love about this commentary is that : 1- He really goes into depth. 2-When there appears to be many views, he addresses all the view points, using scripture, and using sources from other commentaries. He makes sure all sides are addressed than he then explains why he believes his beliefs are correct. My impression is that all sides are addressed in detail! 3-It just seems to answer and clarify the Psalms for me. After reading a Psalm, I often consult many commentaries, and after looking through and studying through multiple commentaries, this one always is the one that clarify the passages for me and gives me the answer I was looking for !Awesome ! Highly recommended! If you need to make a choice between different commentaries, I would definitely get this one!

I have been reading through Psalms and when I cannot figure out what the Psalm is about, this commentary is great! It is easy to understand and yet scholarly at the same time! I wanted something that was a good summary of each Psalm and this was the ticket!

This is a great supplement to have while reading the Psalms, it's light enough for the average reader, yet provides more insight to the background and meaning of the Psalms. I have the whole New Testament and am now building my collection of the Old Testament, this is the first, but will not be the last!

Psalms can seem pretty straightforward so difficult to prepare a study hoping for discussion. This book gives a lot of background and many references to coordinating scripture. It gives context,comments,and meaning for each psalm. Very helpful.
