Having had used Benfei for adaptors before, I decided to buy this for use with a Thinkpad T530 I am in the process of refurbishing. Works like a charm and feels more premium than previous benfei adaptors.

I'm using this on a late 2015 i7 iMac on OS Big Sur. It works fine. BUT if you just plug this into the iMac, nothing happens (at least for me). But before you hastily send it back as faulty, go to your display settings (Apple icon / System preferences / display) and select to 'mirror displays'. Then your Mac desktop will appear on both displays. Note that both displays will change to the resolution of the monitor with the lowest resolution. So an iMac 5k screen will drop to the resolution of the TV / monitor you plug it into. After all, that doesn't matter if you are watching it on the other screen). Note that Thunderbolt 2 carries video but not audio (this is nothing to do with the adapter). So, as this does not carry audio (it is not meant to), take audio from your mac using the headphone socket (into a sound bar or other device). Some streaming services (Sky / Disney) technically disable output via HDMI (to prevent copying). So this will work for BBC, and Netflix but not all streaming services. So ok for some streaming (if you can output sound to a soundbar or something) and fine for presentation use (PowerPoint etc).

All works well when connecting an old Mac air to the tv.

De connector ziet en voelt veel 'steviger' aan dan je zou denken. Werkt ook feilloos, perfect alternatief voor veel duurdere opties.

I use a Surface Book 2 with a Surface Dock 1, and used an official Microsoft Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. That official adapter began to have some issues when connecting a monitor to the laptop and using it in extend mode, where it the monitor output was scrolling and the image was distorted entirely. So instead of spending another $300 on a dock, I decided to replace the adapter. I was pleased to find out it worked flawlessly! I can now use my laptop, dock and monitor together without any issues. Exact same setup, just changed the adapter from the official Microsoft one, to this Benfei one. What I liked most about this adapter is that they specifically mention it is compatible with Surface laptops. Also, the speed of this adapter (being 4K @60Hz) is impressive for the price range. In my use case, I am extending to a 2560x1440 @144Hz without any problems. Other adapters cost more and were slower. Of particular importance, is the fact that this adapter is ACTIVE, meaning it has a chip (semiconductor) to boost the performance of the device. If there is no chip, the adapter is considered passive. Very happy with this simple, cost-effective adapter that solved my issue.
