Doesn't work all of the time, but works well when it does. The batteries ran down in a short amount of time, and instructions are unclear as to what + and - sign do in relation to strength of shock or collar sensitivity to sound.

Sorry I waited so long to order this. Silence IS golden!
I was really hesitant about getting this as I worked as a veterinary technician for over 18 years. My bf has a 6# Pom mix, and she constantly barks at nothing, or everything. We tried other measures to no avail. I ordered this and honestly she hardly barked the day it arrived, and I hadn't taken it out of the box! (Did she somehow know??)It came with a battery, two sizes of "electrode" tips, an adjustable web collar and what I believe to be is an extra fuse?? The instructions are not clear. The battery cover removes easily, and the battery installed w/o problems. I chose the smaller electrodes and they screw onto the unit easily. Attach the collar, adjust to fit so the electrodes are snug against the throat but not tight enough to restrict movement (you should be able to slip a single finger in between the neck and the collar.) I cut off the excess on the collar, leaving a little extra which I folded back and secured with a rubber band.I set this to the lowest setting, which only toned when she barked, and that did not stop her. I then set it to the next level by pressing the + button once. (There are 7 levels of sensitivity). There is an audible beep each time you press the + or - setting. The first time she barked, I heard the tone and I told her sternly to quiet down. She barked again within a few seconds and it toned again. I again told her quiet down, and stepped out of the room. She barked a third time, followed by a slight single yelp. I felt bad, but she didn't cry and cry. The unit will also tone if she whines loudly, even on the second to lowest setting. The first day she was shocked twice, and in the evening I put her regular collar back on (tightening it to about the same snugness as the bark collar to hopefully "fool her") and took off the bark collar. I hardly heard a peep out of her all night. I tried her collar this morning but soon realized she'd have to have the bark collar back on. I have only heard her bark and it tone one time all day.I am not comfortable enough with this to leave it on her overnight, yet. I recommend that you do not leave this on your pet without supervision until the dog gets the idea and you know the unit is working correctly, and you can select the correct sensitivity level for your dog.

Prongs Corroded and Left Burns on Neck
This is our second one of these 'humane' bark collars. They are effective in limiting barking, however both have corroded and left sores on our dog's neck. The first time we thought it was due to the prongs getting wet, but not this time. The first time the collar was loose and it left several small burn-like wounds. This time the collar was tight and left one large burn. The prong was adhered to the dog's skin. The intensity of the wound could have been limited if we checked it more often, but this should not happen. I wish they made a collar that would just beep and not shock.

I really like the 4 beep warning system
We have been using this bark collar with our pup for the last few months. It works decently and is worth the cost.Pros:-My dog stopped barking for literally 9 hours straight during the work day.-My favorite thing about this collar is the incremental warnings. This collar gives a tone 4 times, each increment longer than the last, before delivering a static shock. I want my dog to be able to bark and this allows him to relieve that stress but he knows not to bark more than a few times.Cons:-Sometimes it doesn't register mr. pups bark at all-strap comes loose frequently and requires daily tightening to work properly-Uses a battery that isn't easy to find. I can only find them at pet stores and on Amazon and they are a little pricey per battery (about $3), but they last long enough each.I would buy it again for the price and would recommend it.

Works great except...
My dog barks at the beeping and doesn't stop until it finally shocks her. I wish it would shock sooner instead of repeatedly beeping so many times.

Love! We can finally enter the house/rooms without a bark storm!
My dog barked at EVERYTHING all day and night. Every single noise, every person who entered the house (or a room) - even us and my 3 year old (not cool), he barked a LOT. Finally, after long consideration, we decided to try a bark collar. We'd gone with one that only makes noise in the past, and it didn't work at all after a few days - the barking actually returned stronger than before that collar. This one is amazing. The first day we put it on Cooper (a doxie mix, which apparently means they're barkers!), he barked twice; all day. He has only barked enough to make it shock him on two occasions since we got it (we like that it gives him a chance to stop barking several times before ever shocking). He does still bark some, but it is usually about 3 times in a row, max - I am ok with him barking some. He IS a dog and I don't want to completely remove that from him. So far, we love the results and this is the best $25 I've ever spent.Update - a couple months later. This collar still works pretty well, although our dog has started barking a bit more recently. That being said, he IS a dog and I don't expect utter silence from him. Mostly, he barks if/when he hears someone or something outside, and he has only barked to the point of shock about 4 times since we got the collar, which I consider pretty good. I'd still completely recommend it, and if your dog is stubborn (or not super smart), expect there to be a little bit of barking still!
