A Rabbi Looks at the Last Days: Surprising Insights on Israel, the End Times and Popular Misconceptions

Finally! Great summary of many topics related to the last days.
This is a fantastic book. Many people do not have any idea that you cannot effectively approach a Jewish person about Messiah the same way you approach a Gentile. This book offers background, vocabulary, and Bible verses to use when explaining your faith to a Jewish person. It also describes the undeniable connection between the time when the Jewish people recognize Yeshua of Nazareth as their Messiah and the Last Days. Absolutely outstanding, motivational, and informative. I'm so glad that this author put all this information in one place and made it understandable. I will definitely read this more than once.

Awesome and revealing.
After reading a couple of reviews I almost did not want to read the book. However, I am very glad I did. I really enjoy learning about "end time" prophecies and Rabbi Bernis has shed New insight as to the importance of Israel in the end of the age events. There's no more guessing when all these things will take place. I knew the time was near, but now I feel that it is closer than ever. Also, I have read lot s of these scriptures many times, but now understand them more clearly in the context they were intended.

Interesting viewpoint
I found the book quite interesting; although I may not agree with all that he wrote. I do agree and he really opened my eyes to the fact that we are to bring this message of Yeshua to the Jew first and then to the Gentile. As an Evangelist and a volunteer Chaplain; printed on my card is the Scripture from Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" And I have been sharing this message on the beaches and streets and in churches and jails and hospitals without regard to what religion, but rather to share a relationship with God in Christ Jesus. I found the book to be a proponent leaning toward the theory of a rapture beginning before the Tribulation and I am one that believes that there is a difference between the word tribulation and wrath. I believe that we as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ will go through and suffer tribulation but I believe we believers in Yeshua will be removed at the "Day of the Lord"; as the wrath of God will fall on the unbelievers and we will be removed and not experience the wrath of God.I thought that Rabbi Bernis used the Old Testament well in the presentation to influence one truly searching for truth and I thought enough to buy two additional copies to give to friends, one being Jewish and the other a teacher of the Gospel. As stated I am not an advocate of the Pre-tribulation theory, and this book is. I believe that if we would do what the Bereans did and do their own study and not just accept what others have been teaching; they may find that "Yes, we will suffer persecution (tribulation). Take a moment and look at what is going on in the world today. The persecution and tribulation in China, Africa, the Middle East, and even now in Europe. It has already started in America and most of the people here are not even aware that the Believers in Yeshua are being persecuted. .

To the Jews First!!
I'm a Christian, not very religious, but I definitely believe in God and Christ and the chance for life after this one if deserving. My whole life, even as a little kid, I never had any ill feeling against the Jews. Instead, I felt they were God's chosen people and I never felt any jealousy or animosity about that. I instinctively felt something different - that as a Christian, especially an American Christian, I was blessed if I honored the fact Jews were the chosen people. And those who did not honor that fact, like nazis, communists, liberals and muslims were cursed. As I learned about the creation of modern Israel and her miraculous victories over her evil, muslim neighbors in war after war and incredible battle after battle it was obvious. Although I accepted without hesitation God's choice of the Jewish people, I did not understand what it meant - perhaps that is just inherent faith. But this book has brought tremendous insight for me as to why. In a nutshell - God made a pact with the Jewish people three millennia ago and his word is as fundamental and valid today as it was those thousands of years ago. Those who attempt to destroy that pact between God and the Jewish people, be it through genocide, war, politics, subjugation, jealousy, hatred, lies, religion, government or any other manner are in direct confrontation with God and sided with evil; sided with the devil. If you want to know evil; if you want to know an ally of the devil; simply ask someone for their feeling towards the Jew: you will get your answer. It is fundamental - it is a pact made by God with the Jewish people. I'll tell you something else fundamental I have discovered: evil cannot lie, but it can deceive. If you believe in God then you have the innate knowledge to understand that difference. This book is another rock in the dam you build to thwart evil - it is an awesome read!

Excellent book that gives a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Jewish people. This book is easy to read and left me with a wonderful hope for our future. I'm so glad I read it and plan too share this information with others. I will always pray for the Jews and for Israel as they are the key to all our destinies.

Hardcover vs Electronic Versions
We are studying this book in our Sunday School class. I like to hold a book so I ordered the hardcover. Another participant likes to read on her Nook, so she ordered the electronic version. When we were describing the first chapter in our class, she had more information than I did.....a lot more. I kept scanning my book thinking I had read the pages without retaining the information. Nope. It wasn't in my print. I then looked at the Kindle version, which also has the extra information. I have purchased it. Make sure if you are using this book in a study group that everyone gets the same version.....the reason for the lower star rating. I'll give the hard cover as a gift.As far as the book itself.....so far we're all enjoying it. The electronic version would earn the 5 stars.

Great learning application
An excellent book and a must read for anyone wanting to learn about end times prophecy and relevancy between Judaism and Christianity, especially in relation to prophecy. Also a lot of teaching on Jewish history, feasts, etc. Especially great because Jonathan Bernis is a Messianic Jewish rabbi, and is well versed in biblical teaching and prophecy from both perspectives.....as a Jewish believer & Messianic Jewish believer. He truly understands the perspective of the Jewish people from before they accept Christ as their true Messiah and helps people that don't know of the Jewish faith, to understand from their perspective. I really enjoyed his teaching.

One of the best books about the end times
Written by a Messianic Jew, this is a really good read. Jonathan takes his reader through his own journey to the realisation that Jesus (Yeshua) is the Messiah. He looks at various Old Testament prophecies and their fulfilment, and discusses those that have not yet been fulfilled as well as those that are beginning to be fulfilled. It's a well balanced book and well written. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants some Biblical insight into prophecy relating to the end of the age. I've read much of it several times.

an exciting perspective
Jonathan Bernis is a Messianic rabbi who looks at the end times from a Jewish perspective. He unpacks the mysteries of this time and reveals how Biblical prophecies are being fulfilled right now and what this means for us. A wake-up call for the church. Personally impacting. Extremely interesting with a unique perspective. Highly recommended.
