A Fantastic Starting Tarp for Hammock Camping
I ordered this tarp for a friend of mine putting together a hammock camping setup from scratch. The price was fantastic and with that in mind, this tarp is an incredible value with a few draw backs. I bought the gray and orange version which looks really nice and is easy to match other products to. It came with all the line needed as well as 2 stakes to tie it down. They are not pictured because I bought my own paracord before realizing it was included. If you are curious about starting to hammock camp and don’t want to invest a lot of money right now, this is a great way to start. Here’s what I like. This tarp was put to the use when a 4:30AM rain storm rolled in during our camping trip. It was a decent rain and my buddy stayed completely dry. It did its job and it did it perfectly. The seems didn’t seem to leak at all and the water just rolled right off. Here’s what I don’t like. This tarp can only be used in one layout (the diamond setup pictured). There are no extra grommets or tie offs to arrange this differently (I personally like an A frame configuration). The material is pretty thin which is great for back packing and its small pack size however I’m not positive how durable its going to be long term. My personal tarp is a Kelty Noah 12’ Tarp so that’s what I am comparing this to. My last criticism is that I would like it to be a little bigger. This is great for starting out but my personal preference is a little bigger.Final Thoughts: I would 100% recommend this product. It looks great and is easy to setup and pack away. My criticism doesn’t mean I don’t like the product, it’s just my opinion on what I would prefer.

Lots of nice features. Well thought out.
Just used one for a 6 day camping trip in the Adirondacks. Its rained 3 of the days and I stayed bone dry. The gap between trees was the barely longer than my ENO hammock so using this the "proper" way it was actually too long just for that specific application. I spun it 90° and ran the shorter span over my hammock and it was about 4 inches longer on each end than my hammock. I stayed bone dry in fairly heavy rain so I imagine if it was oriented the proper way it would be even better. The edge of the fly has reflective silver material all the way around and the paracord provided has reflective material woven in. Made finding my stuff in the dark easier.Awesome product and at awesome price. I'm tempted to buy a second just to have for when this one kicks it but it seems nice and durable so that probably wont be for some time.

First time, be gentle!
I went hammock camping for the first time ever recently and ordered this rain fly for my inaugural trip. I had watched the videos and read the descriptions and felt I had a good handle on what to do. Sure enough when I went to set everything up, it was as easy as described in the videos. Simple, quick, and effective. I stayed dry (no rain, but kept the bird crap off me), and had just enough cover for sleeping/changing. As this was my first camping trip on a motorcycle, the packed size of the hammock was important. Nice and small, and all the hammock pieces fit in a saddlebag with room to spare. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this fly. Thanks #BearButtTeam !

Very Light! 42.6 grams/ sq meter
Very good value at $30/ea. Weights are 387 grams for tarp alone and 86 grams for provided lines and two aluminum stakes. This is equivalent to 1.04lbs total. At 11.1 square meters, this is 42.6 grams/ sq meter for the tarp alone, which is VERY light. The eyelets are reinforced and the perimeter is double stitched.

Extremely pleased
We bought two of these for overnight backpacking to serve as both a rain shield and a sun shield. We also bought the bug nets from Bear Butt and are highly impressed with them as well. In fact, prior to ordering these, I had purchased the Hammock Bliss Sky Tent 2 all in one tarp and bug shield. Then my wife found these Bear Butt individual tarps and bug screens and convinced me that having separate pieces is a better way to go. First off, in the winter I don't need a bug screen, so that part is just extra weight in the all in one. Then if I tear the bug screen or rip the tarp, I can just replace that alone, instead of the entire expense of the all in one. Also, I can use this tarp for other things, like shielding my newly planted garden from a late frost, which I plan to do later this week.FUNCTIONThe first night we used these it was raining outside. Not a heavy down pour, but a steady all night rain. Neither one of us got wet. We have one ENO double nest hammock and an almost identical generic brand hammock from Amazon. The tarp extended beyond the ends of both hammocks.HANGINGI hung mine with two of the four provided pieces of paracord, looping around each tree and utilizing my own carabiners thru the reinforced holes. I also used a separate tensioner because I couldn't figure out how the provided tensioner is supposed to work. I searched YouTube and the Bear Butt website for instructions without any luck. While this held tight, I plan on buying some Zingit and Dutchware hardware for future trips to expedite the hanging process. This tarp also includes two tent stakes to use with the other two pieces of paracord for securing the sides down. Again, these held tight, but I will be using Zingit, shock cord and Dutchware in the future to simplify that as well.My wife hung hers on a continuous ridge line (look up YouTube videos on different ways to hang a hammock tarp) and it was a much better set up. A continuous ridge line is when one line is strung between two trees and the tarp is laid over the line and tightened to the line. The benefit of hanging it this way is because that line under the tarp is very handy for hanging our tiny lanterns, bear spray, glasses, gloves or even an accessory bag. These tarps don't come with a line long enough for a continuous ridge line, so you would have to provide your own.THE QUALITYWe are extremely impressed with the quality of workmanship and materials. Like I mentioned above, we returned an expensive set up and purchased two tarps and two bug nets for the price of one name brand set up! The corners are all reinforced and seem very sturdy. We are very pleased with this purchase.

Great buy
Finally used this tarp for the first time! Omg i loved it. Light, easy set up/ tear down. Will probably add photos next time- forgot to take some! Would definitely recommend to backpackers. I also have the eno rain fly and I think this one is better value wise. Covered my hammock set up wih no issues. Came with two steaks and four tie downs. Great product 10/10 would buy again if i ever need another tarp!I spent $30 on it and thats heck of a bargain!
