This is a NON-Drowsy supplement that truly does work! This calms my cat without making him sleepy so that I'm able to take him to the vet or give him needed medication. In addition, he is a hyper personality and sometimes is aggressive to our other cat & this supplement makes him less so. I like it that it doesn't change his personality or activity level but it does help him accept medication and vet visits.

These are GREAT for my psycho cat! One pill in her evening meal and she doesn't go nuts when I try to sleep! In fact, she curls up next to me and I get a great night sleep as well. Highly recommend.

My experience comes from a cat shelter and, in recent years, working as a professional cat behavior consultant. It's hard to know with supplements if they really are effective, especially when they are used in conjunction with other behavior modification strategies. I can say that I used them with my cats for about a month as we were transitioning into our new home, and I thought they were helpful. I like that they have fewer potential side effects than prescription medication. Most cats don't mind the taste. For cats with more discerning taste, you can give the gel caps whole, on a lick mat in a pile of mixed-texture treats. The only drawback, from my perspective, is these supplements are pricey, which makes them less feasible for long-term use.

We have four cats and three feliway diffusers, but we also have a frisky boy cat who lately decided he likes to harass our older girl. The girl cat started picking out patches of fur and hiding at the top of the cat tree. Two days of treatment for them and the fur chewing stopped, the aggression has stopped, and they are both really getting back to normal. It's nice not to hear hissing! We plan to use the whole bottle and hopefully break the habits. We use churo treats and mix two capsules into one churo for each cat. Works great!

I have a small terrier with allergies and anxiety. For her to be happy, I have to manage both. This product does a good job of relaxing her, though it is not the only thing I use. I do notice when I stop using it she is antsier, so I have chosen to continue the product. But the price continues to increase from expensive to untenable. I looked around for alternatives. The active ingredient is called Alpha-Casozepine, according to the label. So, in looking for products with this, it turns out that Lactium is a trademarked version of this. It was difficult to find a product with this alone. Ultimately, I found a Swanson Antistress human product that contained only this as an active ingredient. There are other products that have this ingredient along with other things that I didn't want. I'll see how this new product works once I receive it. Interestingly, Calmkeen, a product that markets itself as similar, has hydrolyzed milk protein as the active ingredient, but it does does not have the actual Alpha-Casozepine. I bought it to alternate with Zylkene, but it simply does not work as well for my dog. And the price, which is significantly cheaper than Zylkene, has continued to rise likely because Zylkene's has. Anyway, if money is no option, then Zylkene is an effective product. If you don't want to continue to pay chronic price increases, you may need to look for an alternative.
