Thriller with a fantastic protagonist!
Such an intriguing idea to have the protagonist be deaf, and by an author who is a complete master! Amelia Winn has suffered a traumatic accident that made her go deaf, causing her to become an alcoholic and lose her husband and step-daughter. As she's trying to sort her life out and get her husband and step-daughter back, she stumbles across the body of a woman who's been viciously murdered, somebody she used to know.Tough yet vulnerable, resilient yet terrified of returning to her past, Amelia is a very sympathetic character who I readily enjoyed reading about. Gudenkauf has done a fantastic job of showing us how difficult it would be to have one of your main senses unexpectedly taken from you in a thriller that gripped me to the very end.

Good time
I am definitely busting my backlist so far this year!A book that slipped through the net. I do love the stories this author weaves. So nurse has an accident and she looses not only her hearing but her job and her husband. That’s tragic in itself, except once she gets her helper (dog) she gets embroiled into a crime when a nurse is found dead…..but what does this mean for her?Yep, it had me.I happily read along with this and had a good time.

Another brilliant book.
It seems such a long time since Heathers' last book and I have been waiting with baited breath for this one. It has definitely been worth the wait. I love every one of Heather's books and Not a Sound is as well thought out and written as all the rest. Heather has written very sensitively about deafness and cancer treatment, and she made it easy to understand the medical terms. I do have one small criticism though, it seemed to jump a little at the end when Amelia and Jake met up, I'm not sure if I missed something but when you read it you will hopefully see what I mean. It still deserves the 5 stars. Highly recommended. I look forward to the next one.

Not A Sound by Heather Gaudenkauf
I have read every book this fantastic author has written. Each book is unique but equally brilliant.I loved this book so much I tried to prolong it, I did not want it to end!!!!! Yes I admit towards the end I'd guessed the plot but It took nothing away from the story, I only hoped for the ending I wanted.Sad & happy ill probably have to wait a year or more before Heather writes another book.Highly recommend Karrie 😊💞

I enjoyed this book especially as its written from the perspective of a deaf person, which was quite new to me. Amelia seems very believable and you can really identify with her feelings and logic. Also the description of the scenery is beautiful. It has enough twists and turns to keep you engaged and has likeable characters definitely recommend although I am a heather gudenkauf fan!

The central character in this novel was a character that I did find myself rooting for, flawed but sympathetic. Her profound deafness added a fresh element to the narrative and the setting was a welcome change from the more commonplace urban settings too.
This book was a quick read and yet one which rewards the care taken to fully appreciate the descriptive passages.
