I'm a big fan of IYV and own 15 of their guitars. I really wanted to have this model turn out well but it didn't. I own the IJGAP-300 steel string version and it's a great guitar. This one is an unusual beast, I really liked the neck profile and body, it has a lot of potential and has a good tone but it is not a viable product as-is. First the headstock uses steel string tuners instead of the proper classical type. This isn't really a problem but it's weird and may be problematic as the strings stretch, you could run out of room for them to wind up. There is a problem with the preamp and wiring, is sounds completely un-grounded. If you touch the metal on the output jack the hum goes away, you can't play it this way. I looked inside for loose wiring but everything is connected. I ordered a second one as a replacement and it arrived the same, nasty hum and buzz along with a crack in the body. The amp drive level is excessive, like you're running a tube screamer between the guitar and amp and will drive the amp front end into distortion, not what you're looking for in a nylon string guitar, at least I'm not. Also, a rhythmic ticking started being produced by the preamp in both of the guitars after a few minutes of being plugged in. All of this adds up to a useless instrument since it doesn't produce enough volume acoustically and amplified it's a mess. I returned both. Don't let this discourage you from buying their instruments, most are absolute bargains.

What a Fun Guitar!
I purchased this guitar hoping to find a lightweight, nylon string acoustic electric that would be easy for my young students to hold and to play.Wow! I found just what I needed in this very light, beautifully shaped instrument! But, don't buy it expecting it to play perfectly and sound pure and sweet without you doing a bit of cleanup which the manufacturer really should have caught before accepting my money.Yes, it is more yellow than soft brown.Yes, there are a few flaws in the paint job.Was there a loose wire in the Vol/Bass/Treble controls? Yes.Did it take a little time to adjust the controls and my amp to knock out the annoying loud hum? Yes.Could the electronics be better? Yes.Did I have to shim the saddle to eliminate a 6th sting, 8th fret buzz on an otherwise perfect neck? Yes.But,Is it as light as a feather? YES!Is the neck straight and true? YES!Do the controls control the output as designed? YES!Is the JM body style as easy to hold and as attractive to look at as it could ever be? YES!Is the student I purchased it for over-the-moon after my few mechanical tweaks? YES!Did I hate to pass the guitar on to him? YES!Now, you may object to the work I had to do to make this guitar "right". But, let's put it into context. Three years ago I purchased a beautiful 3/4-sized, Strat-style guitar for my grandson. I purchased it from a big-box guitar store here in town. My grandson could not play it! It would not tune. It would not hold a tune. He was miserable! I took it home and tinkered with it but decided to take it to the store's luthier to fix it. He set it up. It plays pretty well now after I spent another $75. That's why I took a flyer on this one, sight unseen, through Amazon. On this guitar, I could clean up the sound and feel myself and you could ,too, unless the manufacturer reads this and gets its act together.Buy one (or more than one). "Fix" its foibles. Enjoy a really fun, pretty, easy-to-play guitar.Oh, is it quiet without amplification? Of course! And, that is an advantage for parents who really don't need to listen to the pain of someone learning to play or for you as you enjoy playing it without disturbing anyone.

Awesome guitar!
I don't know other review here. I think this guitar is great and I never have problem with hum at all. I can play decent music. For Craftmanship, the Battery cover is kind of cheap it broke the first day I got it. I don't have a choice just tape it with duct tape and it works fine.It sounds great and it's not only a beginner guitar it's can be used for advance player too. It's versatile and nice feeling. I love it!

bad 60 cycle hum, unplayable - same issue as other reviewer from Sep 19 2023
I had the same issue when I received mine on Sep 27. This appears to be a defect with the electronics on this model. I have other IYV guitars and all have been very nice. This is the first one I'm sending back.

Well made guitar
This is my second IYV guitar and its a great guitar just like the other I purchased. Its a knockoff ( sort of) of a Fender Acoustasonic Jazz guitar as far as the body goes. The color is more of a yellow sun burst instead of the brown depicted on the site but its still a nice color and finish. Its also very lightweight,a little over 6 pounds. The odd thing is it has a wide neck like a classical guitar and came strung with nylon strings which I did not expect. The action is set up nicely and the pickup is okay but not great. There are three slide controls for volume and tone which work nicely. Overall I really like this guitar. Its well constructed and plays great for this price point ($178 + tax) when you compare it to about $2000 for a similar Fender. I'm only giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because of the color, not the guitars playability.
