A Taste of Reality.
This is a film I bought having been fascinated by the films of the actressWinona Ryder back in the 1980s and throughout the 1990s. However this is notone of my particular favourites. In that the acting can be puerile from the youngercast members including Miss Ryder. But I did enjoy the soundtrack which complemented the film and included some ofthe bands I was into at the time of at the time. The likes of Squeeze and Crowded House andthe like. This film was of its time and can now seem rather out of kilter with the modern age,Especially in America.Thank YouCraig : }

Of its time
I really enjoyed this film although it took me 15 minutes or so to get into it. It seems to represent the end of one era and the start of a new one, which it of course is. It now seems modern and old fashioned at the same time.The music choice is spot on. Ethan and Winona characters I ended up really caring about.

Generation X slacker style movie
This a mid 1990s Generation X movie with Winona Ryder having just graduated from Uni. From the optimism ofthe 1960s and changing the world, the baby boomer generation is embroiled in divorce and lecturing Generation Xerson a lack of a work ethic. Despite the loss of the full employment economy and the move to the often lower paid servicesector, the Generation Xers are funnier with a more sarcastic or surreal style humour than the previous generation.This is often vital when you are overqualified and underpaid. Reality bites is a show made by Ryder which is a forerunnerof today's reality TV, which shows you should never trust a TV Editor!! I would also add it doesn't really capture the grungemusic scene at the time which in retrospect really should have been there.

off beat rom-com
*spoiler alert*If it wasn't for Winona Ryder I would have given this 2 stars. She is a delight to watch mainly. It's a slightly annoying movie, and most of the characrters are irritating but especially Ethan Hawke's 'Troy' who only redeems himself at the end but by then it's too late and you have given up caring. I found myself skipping through some of the rubbish 'home video' sequences even from the start. Stiller's 'produced' version was much better.There are some laughs along the way like the dancing in the supermarket, and how the Ben Stiller alternative boyfriend character, meets Winona Ryder, as she accidentally sets his car on fire.Did people really smoke that much then?!

Reality Bites
I LOVE this film! The characters are exceptional with the possible exception of Ben Stiller who plays the most annoying yuppie ever and who drives you to distraction with his inability to express himself with even the most simple of words. However, the articulate and linguistic delight that is Troy Dyer (Ethan Hawke) more than makes up for it. It is impossible to not fall for his character. His eventual 'get-together' with LeLaina is inevitable despite their sometimes vicious arguments and personal attacks.......yet we know it is all in the name of love. Their dancing in the petrol station to My Sherona has to be one of the most humourous moments in film history. A brilliant must-see film.

Still relevant
Written for the depression of the 90s, it is still highly relevant today. Loved it.

a must see film
Reality Bites. One of the best feel good movies to come out of the '90's. A beautifully written screenplay - thanks to the enormous talent of Helen Childress. It has everything that a romantic comedy demands and much more. Ben Stiller not only provides great comedic value to the film but proves himself as a wonderful director - achieving a natural "fly on the wall" feel from all the actors. So many great moments that you'll remember forever. Great chemistry between Ethan Hawke and Winona Ryder.Grabs you from the start and takes you through a unique journey of laughter and poignancy in the blink of an eye. This film will be part of your watch again and again collection.

Reality Bites is a good film and Ben Stiller is a good actor.
Reality Bites is a good comedy film. It stars actor Ben Stiller in one of his early roles and it also stars Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke. It was also directed by Ben Stiller. It also stars American actor Joe Don Baker as Winona Ryder's father. I also like Ben Stiller in a film. His other good films include Meet The Parents which had two sequels Meet The Fockers and Little Fockers which also star another good film actor Robert DeNiro. Ben Stiller also starred in the film Dodgeball and The Watch two films that also star Vince Vaughn.
