Lettuce and basil do extremely well in the sponges in hydoponics.

I have the idoo growing system and didn't want to spend a lot of money replacing these grow pods. So I tried this brand and they work absolutely fine. I get so many more in the package. I grow strictly lettuce right now and already used my crop of lettuce. I will buy again when I'm close to running out.

I bought these grow sponges to use with a small hydroponic nursery kit I received as a Christmas gift. Order arrived quickly. Worked perfectly with the nursery and I was able to easily sprout basil seeds. Trying my hand at lettuce now. A great product!!

These little sponges are so easy to use, and much less expensive than the Aerogarden replacements. I use them to grow my herbs hydroponically and then transplant when the seedlings are large enough. Some herbs are fine to continue growing hydroponically, but some need to be transplanted (cilantro grows like weeds, so fast and so much of it!) because it will outgrow the system. When I transplant, I place the entire sponge with the seedling into the soil. I have never had a problem with these sponges; in fact, the exact opposite. Everything grows quickly and robustly. I will continue purchasing these sponges during every season.

I like how the grow sponges lasts longer than the ones that came with my hydroponic system. My plants germinate and grow very well.
