A marriage of art and sound
First off, wireless doesn't mean that this speaker has a rechargeable battery. It needs mains power. So don't be thinking you're getting a portable speaker. That aside, this speaker is an absolute miracle of engineering and sound. Sure, it's expensive, but you're buying a work of art here. A work of art with sound that'll blow you away. I know Bang & Olufsen are renown for design and innovation but they've surpassed themselves with the Emerge. I have it sitting pride of place on a shelf in the corner of the living room. Setting up was easy, and it measures the space for optimal room filling sound. Control is a breeze, on the speaker itself or from your phone. If you set up Google assistant you can control by voice also. For me the sound is faultless although I've never had the volume past two bars. So, in short, if you love beautiful objects and fantastic sound, this is a marriage of the two.

Beosound Emerge
Beautiful to look at with sound to match. Works flawlessly with my Samsung Galaxy phone but, when paired with my PC, the PC thinks it is a heart monitoring device!

Underwhelming sound for such a high price
I’ve owned many Bang & Olufsen products over the last 20 years, so I had high expectations for the Beosound Emerge. Unfortunately, this was a real disappointment. While the design is undeniably beautiful and the build looks premium, the sound quality is nowhere near the price point. The audio felt flat, weak, and lacking the richness and depth I’ve come to expect from B&O. For such an expensive speaker, the performance was surprisingly underwhelming. In the end, I chose to return the speaker, and thankfully Amazon’s customer service was excellent, making the process easy and quick. I’m grateful for that, but the product itself simply didn’t live up to the brand’s usual standards.

Very poor technical support
Unable to set up via WiFi. Technical support takes ages to reply. They have a 24 hr helpline that puts you through email technical support where they make you repeat steps, and you have to wait days to get a potential next step. Searching on reddit it seems this is a common occurrence. The last reply came more than a week ago and still no solution in sight. Speaker looks well made but unable to test it as unable to connect to WiFi setup. Very expensive for this kind of service. Have returned and will look at other companies. This was the first bang and olufsen device and have been highly unimpressed. Best staying away and going down other brands.

Hi-fi quality sound from a book?
Beosound Emerge speakers: At only 2.82 litres they have a surprising good sound. They can replace bookshelf and stand mount speakers in a hi-fi stereo set up. If you power up several Mozat (Balance, Emerge, Level) speakers and select a streaming service (internet radio) the playback can be delayed 15 seconds or longer. The app allows all the speakers or speaker pairs to sync multi-room to a single pair. Emerge or Level? The Level is twice the price, more bass and more drive units. The Level is stereo in one box but then a pair of Beosound Emerge give better sound stage. They do sound very much the same, same driver units, same Mozart engine. If in multi-room the Emerge adds to the sound stage of the Level. The Level is fully portable, the Emerge is mains only. DLNA was provided to select from audio stored on a computer (that runs a DLNA server like Windows Media Player). DLNA is no longer supported (March 2024). Use Chromecast. The app looses the server (possibly a Microsoft problem). Google Assistant and/or app crash needing re-installing. Problems are rare. YouTube reviewers suggested that a future update would enable them to be used in a surround sound system. The problem being the long delay (330ms) when watching video possibly due to the DSP processing in them. Other manufacturers including many at a lower price point have been able to use their speakers with both computers and television with acceptable lip sync. They are marketed as a life style speaker. Audio over wifi (no compression) is clearly better than it is over Bluetooth. It will work using Windows Music Player but with limited audio only codecs. Watching YouTube over Bluetooth has a 330ms delay. The Chrome browser extension to cast does not adjust the delay - at least I have not got it to work. Using VLC has some control but not easy to adjust and when seeming okay at the start of the film drifts out soon after. Basically it does not work with TV/Computer for films. Using an Apple TV 4K apparently works to control the lip sync and cast to the speakers. The Beosound Emerge is a very capable speaker on its own or as a pair. It does drain power on standby even (unplug it). Switched on from cold it has to find the network and login, so not instantly re-booting.
