This is the best grater I have ever bought. It's not suitable for everything, of course, as the teeth are very small, but it grates Parmesan and other hard cheeses straight from the block with ease and makes the whole process so much easier.

You will see freshly grated parmegiano cheese on top of your pasta in a whole different way.I used to grate cheese with those multi-graters that are good for carrots, that usually have also a very thin one used for lemon zest. Well, I have kept that for carrots but definitely not for the cheese.This zester is one of the few kitchen utensils that have really made a difference on our enjoyment of food, specially for pasta. You cannot believe how thin this thing makes your parmegiano, it literally zests into the thinnest flakes of cheese that immediately start to melt on top of your pasta, begin absorbed and fully release their flavour all over the food. it's wonderful really, definitely worth the price.The quality is outstanding, had mine for almost two years I think, using it a lot, and it's like new. Very sturdy plastic handle, and the metal part is top notch. The tiny blades/indentations are flawless, they simply do not bend, even with the hardest of cheeses, and no rust whatsoever, no marks, just an outstanding product. I use it, clean it and keep it inside the original plastic protection sleeve.It has found its way onto other kitchens, and friends were amazed on how different the results with this zester were when compared to the cheaper/classic ones. A few of them ended up buying for themselves and the response was "thank you for the advice, it really is amazing..."I rarely review products on Amazon, although I buy lots of stuff all the time. And I had to review this product, it really is premium and a must-have for achieving that refined zest of cheese or other ingredients.

Works very well with hard cheeses like parmesan and lemon zest and looks built to last

This is a well made product which does its job very well too. Easy and comfortable to hold, it grates cheese, garlic and lemon zest equally well. It is necessary to assist some of the gratings to drop but I don't see that as a problem. Simply holding the grater under a running tap does most of the cleaning, with any residual bits easy to clear away with a cloth. Overall, a very good buy.

Over the last month I have bought and compared all series of microplane products.The first reason why I keep buying them is because you won't find anywhere write "Made in Chine" all model use the same made in USA blade despite on the little sticker you can read assembled in Mexico and second they're made for last.Microplane has now 5 main lines: Professional, Premium classic, Elite, Home, GourmetAcross all models designs and options differ:- Professional is similar to many graters, the plate and the handle are all made in stainless steel.- Premium classic series has that long lean body that everyone recognizes easily as Microplane design, stainless steel blade and plastic/rubber body.- Gourmet series: looks sleek and offers ample grating and shaving surface, soft-touch handles, plus non slip rubber ends.- Home Series: The body and handle is made of plastic only the paddle is metal, the quality of the blades is always the same but overall the item looks less profession and more for normal home cooking.- Elite Series: includes a transparent cover that doubles as a grating catch feature and measuring cup. When positioned underneath the grater, the dual-purpose cover/measuring cup allows chefs and home cooks to conveniently zest citrus and grate a wide range of ingredients with more control and precision.All series come with small rubber feet in order to give more control preventing accidental slips while grating, they also protect the surfaces and bowls.In my opinion the purchase should be based always on what you expect want from the item you're buying.Sturdiness: 1. There were several other zesters less expensive that I was tempted to buy rather than this one, but I decided to go for this as it seemed particularly well made and sturdy. I am deighted I did. It is far better than the one I had … which was very hard work and this is quick and easy to use.
