The best RPG on PS4
Without doubt, the best RPG on the Playstation 4. If you haven’t played the Witcher or the Witcher 2 before I would recommend at least reading up on the background stories. The Witcher 3 weaves many of the events of the first two games into its storyline, introducing characters that appeared in both previous games, and plot points that are directly related to decisions you made in the Witcher 2. The game allows you to simulate the choices made in the Witcher 2, so as to preserve some of your own personal decisions in the last game. It’s not necessary, but it certainly enhances the experience if you know what occurred in the previous games. The world is vast and diverse and the progress well-paced. As you begin to tire of riding around the vast wilderness of Velen, you are introduced to the city of Novigrad. The quests within the city, the gameplay, has a completely different character to those of the wilderness, with issues more political, actions more covert. This change in tone and pace come again once you move onto the next area, the Skellige Islands, where the vast wilderness is replaced by vast seas beneath which underwater wrecks, treasures, monsters, and puzzles, lurk in the depths. Combat is action based, but does require some tactics when facing off against particular foes. In combat, you rely on three basic elements; your swords (Silver and Steel), your signs (magic), and potions. Swords can be enhanced at the blacksmith, coated in poisons and oils, and upgraded using runes, and combat skills. Signs consist of defensive (Shield/Slow down/Control) and offensive (Fire, Telekinetics) skills, which can be altered as you upgrade your skills to produce new effects in and out of combat. Lastly, potions can be crafted by gathering recipes and ingredients from across the lands. These can enhance your combat skills in numerous different ways, from increasing your speed, adding regenerative effects, to slowing down time. Potions, however, come at a price, for they poison the body, and too much toxicity makes you vulnerable to damage. Certain monsters are vulnerable to certain combinations, and when hunting particularly difficult creatures it’s generally best to prepare the right oils and potions for the fight. Knowledge is as good a weapon as your Silver sword. 10/10 – If you like RPGs, and you haven’t’ played this, it is a must buy.

I was never interested with fantasy games, until I played this masterpiece.
This game is like a large breath of fresh air, even if you're not interested in fanatsy, magic, RPG's and so on. I highly recommend to anyone. I was a newcomer to The Witcher franchise when I bought Wild Hunt, and back when I heard this game earned a GOTY award a few years ago, I didn't take any notice to it since it was a fantasy game. Yet, I was wrong. Artistically, the game assets and overall look, is stunning, the dynamic changing weather, character and creature models, and various areas look amazing. The story and characters are interesting and intriguing, making you want to play the game for longer. And, even better, you can spend hundreds of hours in this game, a huge wealth of content, upgrading Geralt's weapons, armour and skills, making the game highly addictive! To summarize, speaking as a gamer that was never interested in fanatsy themed RPG's, this game is well worth your time and money, also, I recommend getting the GOTY edition since you get an extra 50-100+ hours of even more fun gameplay!

Outstanding Game
This game is one of the best on the PS4, forget upgrading to a 4K TV and buying a PS4 Pro, in 1080 mode at 60Hz this game looks a-mazing! With the 2 DLC packs and for £25 this will keep you ensconced in front of your telly for several months. The Witcher has several enormous maps, larger than Skyrim or Fallout 4. The game itself is an open world joy, after a few hours of following the plot, stock up on potions, polish your gear and head out into the beautiful wilderness. Explore dungeons, ruined keeps, forest grottoes and fall in love with the superb NPC's, Yennefer, Tris and the other gorgeous witches. The Bloody baron missions were the ones which made me realise I was playing an outstanding game, the amazing facial animation is coupled with excellent voice talent that combines to make greatness. Combat is ace as you can take on mobs like bandits even if they are a higher level by running in,, firing off igni or another sign and fast striking with your sword, then dodge rolling around to avoid attacks. Tougher monsters like gargoyles need a strategy to successfully take on and there is a wealth of different baddy types, from bandits to wild dogs, vampires and horny beasts. No big dragons like in Dragon Age Inquisition or Skyrim but little baby drake's, ah bless ;-p. The DLC 's are of a very high standard, Hearts of Stone is a Gothic Masterpiece of doomed love and terrible consequences with the great character of Gaunter O'Dimm. It is a real shame the developers didn't do more DLC's or even a Witcher 4, I think they are working on a cyberpunk game for 2017-2018 release, argh! Only small gripes were not enough ability slots to use your upgraded skills, and Geralt is too robotic for me.

Well worth the GOTY
A wholly fantastic game. May not look as good as it does on your high end PCs, but it is still a beautiful game with some incredible landscapes and solid character models. Facial animation can be a bit stiff but then there are hundreds of scenes and thousands of lines of voice dialogue. In any case, this game is huge, and includes both expansions; so if you like reading and collecting absolutely every bit of rubbish in a game (like me) this will last you years. Also the gameplay and storyline are solid. If I can find one real fault, it's that accessing the in-game menu and inventory system is painfully slow. Anyway this isn't a very in depth or even well-written review, and if you aren't convinced by now there are plenty of reviews out there for this game that was released years ago. Go read them, then buy the game.
