Well formulated supplement (I checked the brand website for more info) but pricey...
I started taking eye supplements several years ago, based on a conversation that my brother and I had with our father's ophthalmologist. My father had terrible vision toward the end of his life and was taking many medications and had quite a few surgeries. His conditions have a genetic component and the specialist was kind enough to explain some of the steps we could take to perhaps minimize some of the risk. She recommended the AREDS formula, and since then I have switched to AREDS2 and have tried several other formulations based on AREDS2 as well. I've never taken one with as many ingredients as this Balanced Ocular Support supplement, and I thought it sounded intriguing. I'm already a fan of bilberry and black currant extracts, but I wasn't too familiar with some of the other ingredients. I found it annoying that the exact composition of the ingredients were not provided in the product description. Or even just a picture of the label. When the bottle arrived, the font is so tiny that I can't read very much of the label (I guess I really do need these supplements, right?) so I went to the website to find the information I wanted. This also made it a lot easier to compare the various formulations offered by VisiVite. When I first started taking supplements I had a very long commute and I was noticing that I wasn't able to easily read the overhead signs on the freeway until I was practically under them. And after taking the supplements for a few months I really could see a difference in not only the clarity of my vision, but my ability to see well in the dark, too. Then I became quite ill and somehow stopped taking them for a year or so. But, I'm back to taking them now and I'm trying to be very conscientious about it and do my best to protect my vision. I haven't noticed any immediate changes, but I know it will take some time. I'm happy with this formulation and I have experienced no digestive upset or any other negative effects. I did initially have some qualms about the gingko biloba, but I got the okay from my current physician. I am also trying a couple of the other formulations offered by this brand to see which will work out the best for me. The current price of $32.95 is a bit pricey, as the bottle contains 60 easy to take capsules and the recommended dose is two per day. So, this is a 30-day supply.

Well tolerated
From my wife Sarah: While I can't say there's a specific change yet, it has the right ingredients for eye health, and I tolerate this product well. It's gluten free and free of eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy and tree nuts. For me, that's perfect.

Good comprehensive ingredient list
I am going to compare this with the better known Ocuvite formula. This one has the same main ingredients of Zeaxanthin and Lutein plus other supportive additives. This one has a lower content of both Lutein at 15mg and Zeaxanthin at 4mg while the "brand" name has 25mg and 5mg respectively in one of their simpler formulas. They do have a robust formula (with other additives) of Lutein and Zeaxanthin at 5mg and 1mg. So depending on the formula, this one potentially contains more of active ingredients plus the other supportive ones making it a better deal in my opinion. The pills are fairly small, just a bit longer than a penny (see photo). If you're like me and don't like swallowing pills, well you'll want to know these are fairly bitter. Not the worst I've tasted and I can get them down with water but they will mix with say a smoothie if that's your thing. I didn't notice it clumping up when mixed so it blends to a uniform texture. The taste is strong, so unless your smoothie (or whatever) is also strong, you'll still detect this but I didn't find it overpowering.Bottle is safety sealed/wrapped on outside cap. The expiration is long dated (my bottle was out to 2025) which is a plus.It takes time for results so I can't give feed back on that yet.I do not know how much alkylphenol is in this extract but I would like to point out a few warnings as a precaution:***This contains Ginkgo Biloba which may warrant some extra CAUTION and a doctor's guidance for people taking certain medications or have certain conditions. You should seek advice from your doctor if any of the following apply:-- on blood thinners-- taking SSRIs/MAOIs/anti-depressants-- taking NSAIDS-- on insulin /diabetes meds--if you are allergic to poison ivy/oak/sumac or other plants with alkylphenols--if you are epileptic or prone to seizures

Impressive array of nutrients/ingredients
Although I was impressed by the formulation of this supplement -- which includes a good number of anti-oxidant eye-healthy ingredients (Carotenoids, Bilberry, Grapeseed extract, Alpha Lipioc Acid, European black currant, Turmeric and more) , I was a little cautious about taking 2 a day because of the addition of Gingko biloba-- which has in the past, caused me to have swollen legs. Therefore, I just took one a day -- Probably because of the variety of other ingredients I had no reactions to the Gingko but even so, was just taking one a day.But because of the Gingko, I don't plan on using this brand in the future - however, I did not have any untoward reactions to a supplement whose ingredients DID impress me with their vision-enhancing abilities. The price is understandable considering the research involved in formulating this impressive product

Very Good Vitamins...
I have been taking these vitamins for a week or so, and I can tell you that they are very good. You take two capsules per day, and there are enough for one month in the bottle. The capsules are of average size, and easy enough to swallow. I have had no negative effects at all from taking these, which is a good thing. So far, my eyes have not gotten tired from working on the computer half the day, and I am not having headaches at all. So I can truthfully say that these eye vitamins work, and that they are worth the price for the product. I would definitely purchase these again.
