Great for campfire popcorn

Purchased these as a gift for my parents and two family members for newly built outdoor fire pits. I wasn't expecting to get a kit of popcorn along with it too, but was really happy with it! The handle was easy to put on and I walked through the directions with my parents to make sure they knew how to use it. They used it recently and told me how delicious the popcorn was and how easy it was it was to make over their fire pit. They loved it so much that it's going to be super easy for me to get them a christmas gift now with different types of popping corn, toppings, seasoning and other items so that they can make popcorn for their friends when they all sit around the fire pit together. Probably one of the most useful and best gifts I've ever given them, I'm so happy they really enjoy it. Will definitely buy more for other family members and friends as gifts in the future.

I was really excited to receive this product. The ratings were really good, and I thought it would be a giant step up from using Jiffy Pop over the campfire. What a disappointment. The handle is nice and substantial, but the pot and lid are ridiculously thin and flimsy. They are seriously the weight and thickness of a disposable pie pan. Burning the popcorn in such a flimsy pan seems inevitable, but we shall see this weekend.The second problem is the misleading advertising of this product. Seems to be a big problem on Amazon lately. This product is titled, "Whirley Pop Open Fire Popcorn Popper Kit." This is NOT a Whirley Pop popper. Shame on you, Amazon.UPDATEOk. So we just went camping. I was very surprised that we did not burn one kernel, despite the incredibly thin pot.HOWEVER.... This is just an incredibly cheaply made popper. The handle is so loosely attached to the kettle that it is beyond flimsy. Trying to shake the kettle is ridiculous. Since the kettle isn't securely attached, it flies all over the place when you shake the handle. I love the concept of the removable handle for easy storage. However the mechanism for attaching it is a zero, at best. It's not a sturdy connection at all.Judging by the high ratings, I suspect this is one more example of a good product being stripped of it's quality over time.

I bought this to use with my fire pit. It is quite simple. You can use the three enclosed popcorn mixes. Or you can buy popcorn kernels at the grocery store, add oil and pop and season your own. The enlclosed popcorn tastes fine, and is convenient for traveling or camping. The kids had fun outside using the popper to make their own popcorn over the firepit. The construction of the popper is excellent. Good quality. The handle is long enough. The handle is easily removed for storage. We also use this popper for making stove top popcorn. I like microwave popcorn, but the stovetop method just reminds me of childhood and actually seems to taste better.

This open fire popper is easy to assemble, use and clean up. It also takes up little storage space. Children and adults love it and the popcorn is very good( not gourmet), but nonetheless very good. Be sure to buy a case of the ready made popcorn kits. They make it easy!!! This way you're not measuring popcorn /oil and you can watch the kiddos and relax. I like this popper so much that I just sent one and a case of popcorn as a gift. Popper can also be used indoor over a gas stove.
