Shop FoxAngle Vise, 4-1/8-Inch Wide, 3-3/4-Inch Capacity, Silver/Blue

This is without a doubt, one of the worst buys from Amazon in the last 10 years! I HAVE seen Shop Fox items that seemed ok but this was a disappointment!I bought it in June for a new bench I was building and didn't unpack it until today (7/26/16). What crap! It is CRUDELY fitted and does NOT meet any of its ad claims. "easy-to-read scale" is partly true, except there is NO index mark to read it against. "indexing pin set for every 15°" is also partially true, there IS a hole APPROX every 15°, but the holes are .197" diameter, and are so far offset from each other that the PIN provided is only .136" wide. Loose fit it isn't, sloppy, flop back & forth fit it is. The holes overlap by almost half their diameter! Useless!! The " dovetailed trunnions" are so badly fitted they don't even look like they are from the same model! AND because I didn't open it and complain quick enough, there is no return! Love it. A $55 doorstop.. IF I can get all or most of the Chinese grease/glue off of it. I spend around $4-6k on Amazon a year and am seldom sorry. This offsets that a lot! Put your money into something useful like a pop-corn popper.

I looked at a lot of other vises capable of multiple angle adjustments and finally decided to get the Shop Fox. It mounted easily and the ability to lay it all the way down to a horizontal position gets it nicely out of the way when not in use. I needed a vise that would let me lay materials flat before clamping so the parts would not slide from their positions. The Shop Fox is perfect for this use!I liked the fact that it had a vertical column in the back that the jaw moved on, making it really solid. Overall it works well, the one problem I have with it is the somewhat sticky movement up and down. Rapid large up and downs are not in its book of tricks... Applications of lubricant to the shafts and main body and main screw have not alleviated this problem. While a little irritating, the use I get from it more than makes up for this slight hiccup.

I would highly recommend this vise as it has been very usefull !

Good price. I began using it the day it arrived. It does what it is designed for. Not super accurate like the really expensive vises, but is great for a home shop. Well made and will last a long time.

Works as advertised, I work as a luthier and needed to be able to drill consistent angled holes for pinless bridges.

smooth operation and locks securely in position.Would like to see optional soft jaws but can not fault the tool.

Very nice vice. A lot heavier than it looks online. Well made very strong . Angle adjustment works smoothly and precisely.
