Update: Warning -- Cans do not open
Previous review below.Foolishly thought I should give this brand another try. Bought another case. NONE of these tins can be opened with the pull tab. If you pull hard enough, the tab just rips off. Haven't found a can opener that can handle these tins. I opened one with a heavy, pointed knife, thinking I could then peel back the lid. Nope. Had to cut the seam using the knife until the tin was open enough to slide the contents out. Dangerous and not worth the time or effort for a quick, low-sodium snack. Should have known better.Old review -- Half the cans in this box could not be opened because the pull tab snapped off and there's no can opener in this house that can open these tins. Waste of money. Of the few I did get open, the fish was mushy and had little flavor. I was looking for a low-sodium alternative to traditional kippered herring. Had high hopes, but what I thought was a reliable brand just isn't.

Same great smokey flavor with less Sodium per tin compared to regular Crown Prince Kipper Snacks
These are great tasting and much lower in sodium than the ones I was getting at my local store. They cost more but there is no point trying to eat healthy fish only to kill myself from high blood pressure. These end up costing about $1 more a can than what I was buying local. I'm comparing them to the Crown Prince Kipper Snacks with the tin in a wrapper instead of a box. The "regular" kipper snacks have 230mg of Sodium per serving with 1.5 servings per can. These low sodium kipper snacks in the box have 40mg of Sodium with 1.5 servings per can. 345mg vs 60mg per tin. That is a HUGE difference. These have the same smokey flavor and the fish look identical to the higher sodium product. Since there is FAR less sodium it doesn't bring out the smokey flavor quite as much but it is certainly there. After eating these low sodium kipper snacks every morning for a week I had one of the higher sodium tins I still had on hand. Wow, there sure is a lot of salt in those. I'll be sticking with these low sodium snacks for now on.EDIT: The appearance of the packaging has been updated AND the Nutrition Facts have been updated including the Serving Size. The old packaging (still displayed on Amazon as of this edit) lists about 1.5 servings (55g) with 40mg of sodium per serving. The new updated packaging (pictures uploaded) lists 1 can as a serving (92g) with 70mg of sodium per serving.

Good low sodium food
I am sensitive to salt and search desperately for tasty foods with little or no salt. Not easy to find. But this one fits the bill. It is not salt-free, but it is much less than other products of this type. Great with omelettes with breakfast or lunch. If you are looking for a low salt product, I think that there is a similar product with almost the same packaging that does much more salt, so if you are looking for the low salt version, be sure to read the on line description of the product to make sure it is marked "low sodium" and that the label on the product itself reports that it has only 70 mg of salt before ordering.

Really good but got priced out.
Seems like when you order things more than a few times on Amazon the price jumps! That has happened more than a few times. We love these Kipper snacks but when the price jumps 33% we're not buying anymore! Cost the same a the little Mom and Pop store down the street. We'll just get it there! We like them!

Very Pleased With This Purchase
I was truly , truly pleased by the fact that the cans are BPA free and that the fish is not loaded down with salt. (70 mgs sodium per one can serving). Crown Prince Natural Kipper Snacks are absolutely delicious. As a matter of fact since I did not feel inspired to prepare a complete dinner from scratch, this came in quite handy. The can is "easy-peasy" to open. I just squeezed some fresh lemon juice on this tasty snack, added some leftover steamed vegetables~~~and voila! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Most definitely, I will order this product again. Plus, I highly, highly recommend it.
