The Aristocrat

I fell in love.
“A love that’s interrupted is a love, nevertheless.”Felicity learned to not get attached, going from home to home until finding a good one. A difficult childhood made her resilient and strong, but also guarded. Especially with her heart. She’s honest and authentic. And one day she happens to spot something other than birds across the bay. IYKYK.Leo is obligated to the family legacy. Old money and stature. His life predetermined, and so he’s getting one summer to enjoy before filling those shoes. From two different worlds, in so many ways, but a chance meeting will change absolutely everything. What a whirlwind of a love story. Magical—because the love never faded. Once in a lifetime and against all odds. Loved it so much. The writing is engrossing and eloquent. A story full of heart and depth. The Aristocrat gets added to my favorite books and Penelope joins my one click author group.“I don’t get too comfortable anywhere. Once you start depending on someone and they’re gone—then what? You need to be able to fend for yourself.”“I know we hardly know each other. But from the moment we met, somehow I knew you mattered to me, Felicity. Does that sound strange?”“Hanging out with you is becoming one of my favorite things,”“What did I see in her? That wasn’t a short answer. It was more like I couldn’t see anything else whenever she was around.”“Sometimes…” “Letting go of someone can be just as important a gesture of love as hanging on to them.”“I will never find another you.”“We’ve been apart far longer than we were ever together, yet I haven’t been the same since I met you. I don’t care how we make this work…only that we try.”“Make no mistake…” “My entire world is you, Felicity. Without you, I have nothing.”“I’m gonna try to go easy on you, but I’m not sure I can. I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life to have you again.”“Losing you hurt so badly. But finding you again made it all worth it.”

Beautiful story!!!
This was a beautiful love story with some funny moments courtesy of his cousin Sigmund. Felicity and Leo met when she was birdwatching and her binoculars landed on him and to her surprise he returned the favor. It was the beginning of everything. They got to know each other even though Felicity didn’t rush into anything but Leo was interested from day one. His cousin, Sigmund, saw how Leo was falling and reminded him of his position back in England and the issues it’ll cost but Leo didn’t care. He wanted his time in America to be memorable. They shared some beautiful moments until they had to let each other go. Fast forward couple years and they see each other again and the chemistry is still there. I really loved how Sigmund was with Felicity when she reunited with Leo. The reunion between Leo and Felicity wasn’t what they expected. But eventually everything came full circle and it was beautiful. Loved the banters and also the emotional moments.

Stayed up half the night because I wanted to keep reading.
Be warned there are many crushing moments since you know from the start that they will be separated. Felicity had been an orphan in the foster system and her character and reactions were all integrated to reveal a fragile heart hidden behind a maturity and perseverance to power through and make bad situations bearable. Leo was a playboy wanting to feel normal coming to terms with his upcoming responsibilities. These two always have fireworks and are going back and forth trying to limit the pain when they separate at summer's end.

awesome
The thing I liked about this book is it’s unexpected. I usually know the end of a book, because it’s usually all the same.. girl meets boy, fall in love, something make them break up and they end up together. But with this book, you don’t know where it’s going to end. We’re on a rollercoaster of emotions. You get attached to the heroine and you can easily put yourself in her shoes.

A love of a lifetime
What a wonderful story of second chances. Both Leo and Felicity were attracted to each other from the beginning, but they didn't think their relationship has a chance as Leo would be going back to the UK at the end of the summer. Their love for each other was so strong that after 5 years they were able to reconnect and find their happily ever after.

Unputdownable
This book was really heart-melting and heart-breaking. I finished it at 1:30 a.m. last night, I simply had to know how it ended. Penelope at her best.

lost and found
It took me a while to get into this book but it was worthy.I liked both characters and the secondary ones too.The style was not a question as PD is one of my favourite contemporary romance writers.
