will this allow me to run an effect down a signal ws2812b led string that is 30 led/m and 6 meters long? a total of 180 pixels?

It depneds on your controller , some controller max control 512pixels , some max control 1024pixels , some max control 2048pixels etc . Using SP901E amplifier depend on your project pixel QTY and your controller . You project is 180 pixels , very less . So you don't need the this singal amplifier .

Does this work with ws2815b led strips?

Yes it worked with my ws2815b strips from BTS Lighting
