Great brush, cool features, cool app...coming from a 3000
I am coming from a 2013 Oral B 3000 before making this purchase. I gave the 3000 to my wife because I wanted to have a toothbrush that tracked my brushing through an app and she was using a manual brush (I dont think people can share these brushes it would be such a pain to change the head every use). I am a tech guy and love tracking that kind of stuff. As a toothbrush, its awesome. I can't really imagine a brush working better. My 3000 felt great too. Compared to the 3000 this does feel more powerful, even though specs I could find online show they are the same but note those specs were not released from oral B which doesn't seem to really say what the power of the brushes is so the specs I found could be incorrect. But this brush does feel more powerful and seems to clean a tad better due to it. Having said that, if you only care about brushing, the 3000 is probably the way to go as this is double the price. I did a lot of research on my 3000 and a lot on this too. The 8000 does have some advantages though...The charging carry case is perfect. I can charge and store my brush. There are tons of travel cases you can buy for $10-$20 but none will be as good as this one. Its a definite plus that I don't need to lug my charger, which is set up already in my bathroom, when I travel because I can just bring this. The app is great. It tracks your brushing automatically (time and # of times brushed). You can also enter flossing, tongue cleaning, and mouthwash but you do need to manually enter it on the app. I wish they would add water pik too as an option. For all of this the app is great. The feature that tells you what/where you are brushing is ok. Its kind of a pain to put your phone on the mirror and this technology is not perfect. Relying on the just the camera can't really tell what/where you brush as you need sensors in the brush head as well to tell you this. That technology just isn't around yet but I do bet we see it in the next 5-10 years. Its cool to see how/where you brushed but I think doing it once every few months is just fine rather than every brushing just to make sure you are routinely hitting all of the right places.I got this with a $20 off coupon, which is one of the reasons I got it. I had been watching it before and was glad to get the deal so it was $135 total. Again if you aren't sure what brush to get just get one that is Oral B 3000+. The 3000 is bare bones and then you pay for extra features with other models. I wanted the features. The ones below the 3000+ are not as good and not worth it. As far as oral b vs sonicare the research I read does show them performing roughly the same however some research does indicate that the rotating head on the oral b is better and I agree. As far as brush heads, you can easily buy generic off amazon that are just as good. I think I bought like 3 yrs worth of heads for like $15.

First Impressions: Best toothbrush I have ever had.
First impressions reviewI have been a Phillips Sonicare user for years. Been happy with it, because it was the first real electric toothbrush I ever had. The battery has been failing for the past 2 years and I have pushed it along as long as I could, but now I am lucky if the charge lasts long enough for one brushing. So I have been looking to replace it for a while. A few times I almost got another Sonic care but decided to read up on the Oral-B. I was happy to see and sort of surprised its the only brush approved by the ADA. When I saw that I read reviews of what people think, and most of the reviews are very positive. Some people complain its too harsh, but I think its perfect. I was always skeptical of the round head, I thought the style of the Sonic care would clean better, but with the design of the brush heads and using it one day, I can see how this can clean better. When I was looking for an Oral B. I saw this one had 6 different speeds, I thought about getting the 3000 series or the 5000 series but I admit the position detection intrigued me. So with the 6 different modes and position detection I thought I would buy this one.First, the cleanliness of my teeth. AMAZING.This brush does an amazing job cleaning my teeth. I have tried a few modes on the brush and do not find any too harsh for me. Coming from a Sonic care I think the feel of the brush while your brushing your teeth is actually better. The roundness of the head, allows you to easily change the position to clean your teeth very well.I have tried the normal speed, the deep clean speed, the whitening speed, tongue cleaner.Normal speed is greatDeep clean is great as well, not too harsh on me.Teeth Whitening... This one really surprised me. I thought it may just slow the head down some or change the pattern of the movement some, but it starts off the speed slow, then gradually speeds up to the highest speed for this mode, then goes back to the slow speed and alternates the speed the entire time you brush... I can see how this may really be helpful as it alternates the speed while brushing.Position detection,A little disappointed in this. I like it, I like how it ha 2 more sections that it helps you brush with. Each section when your brushing the color will go from dark blue to lighter blue and then from lighter blue to white.Yes I need to read the instructions, is this to have you do the outside and top on first pass and then inside and top in 2nd pass? If so the think the position sensing can be a little better. There are some times I am brushing the right side off my mouth and it things I am doing the left side. It will get better over time I think. Is this a little gimmicky, yes. I think that if the brush did not depend on your phone to use your camera and the brush had position sensing sensors on the inside of the brush this would be a true position sensing brush. But it does not appear it does? If it does not, then whats the difference between this brush and the other bluetooth brushes. Why does only the 8000 offer this feature. The pluses of the position sensor, is it helps make sure you clean all parts of your teeth, and makes sure you brush long enough... Without sensing the time defaults to 2 minutes with it defaults to 3 minutes. I think its a fun way to clean your teeth and makes me look forward to brushing. I don't always brush my teeth every day. I am bad, and days I do, its usually only once. But I think this will help get me back in the habit of brushing my heath twice or more on a daily basis..Pressure sensor works really well. I like how it changes color to let you know if your putting too much pressure on your teeth..Now as for timer... Another way I think the Oral-B is better than Sonic Care. Atleast the model I have.... When you turn on your brush, it alerts you to change position every 3 seconds.. Great... But then after 2 minutes it shuts off... Sometimes I want to brush a little longer because I want to give extra attention to a specific part of my teeth. But once the 2 minutes is up, it shuts off. With the Oral-B after the time, it gives an alert letting you know clearly the time is up, but then it continues to work so you can brush longer if you want to.So my first impression, best brush ever.. I will use it for a while and then update my review. So in general, I think the Oral-B is a great toothbrush. The cheaper ones, probably work just as well as this one, but then this one gives different modes which I think can be beneficial to me. So if your looking for a new toothbrush, and considering between a Sonic Care and Oral-B. I highly recommend Oral-B toothbrushes...

Awesome! Get one!
I ordered this for myself as my old one didn't hold a charge very long after years of loyal service. I downloaded the app and then saw there is a kid's version. I downloaded the kid's version and it is awesome. My 5 year old son has been oppositional lately when it's time to brush his teeth so I showed it to him and viola, he's been brushing all week without complaint. He is also excited to brush to earn points to unlock more themes. One problem with the app: it is for only one user so I cannot have a different profile for everyone in the family nor can I use the kid's app and the adult's app to achieve 2 profiles.Oh, and toothbrush is awesome. It is fancier than my old Oral-B (only 1 setting) and I really like the various settings including the one to brush my tongue. I can tolerate this more gentle setting better than my old toothbrush as it makes me gag less when brushing my tongue.I highly recommend this toothbrush. This is my 4th Oral-B rechargeable electric toothbrush (I've been using them for a long, long time) and after I met my husband and we started dating seriously, I got him hooked on it, too. Dental checkups are a breeze every time and this toothbrush and replacement heads are a lot less expensive than if you need fillings, crowns, etc.One really nice feature is the travel case that comes with this model. It doubles as a charger so I nolonger have to take the countertop charger with me when I travel and risk forgetting it somewhere, which has happened to me. I always travel with the electric toothbrush. I have trouble with an analog toothbrush because it has been so long since I have used one. If the apocalypse comes, I'm going to be in trouble.
