EXTREMELY Practical, Great Exercises & Easy to Read
At The Margins is an extremely practical book with lots of great exercises to continually practice and improve your presentation skills, regardless of the industry you work in. Neil's no BS, "beer in the bar" style makes it easy to read. The different chapters help you work on specific skills, and are filled with examples, great stories, and practice exercises, which allow you to skip around and return to an area where you feel you need further work. Especially timely is the chapter about conducting meetings while working from home. I recommend this book to anybody who wants to improve their presentation, listening, and conversation skills from an experienced and supportive coach.

Extremely Helpful Book
The reason you should read this book can be summed up in a single word: Practical. This book provides really simple yet insightful tips on how anyone can improve their communication skills. The key message is that how you say it matters as much as what you say. This book emphasizes that in business we are always competing to sell ourselves – our ideas, our projects, even our skills to win a job. Grammer’s point is that while our competitors may be equally competent in substantive skills, we can win by differentiating ourselves through a series of “At the Margins” moments – little communications tricks that can differentiate ourselves. Grammer then provides a series of very useful and practical tricks to improving your communication skills. He even has a section on how to be more effective on virtual Zoom meetings. This book is a must-read for seasoned senior managers as much as it is for junior associates.

A very worthwhile and practical book about improving communication skills
An excellent read. I loved it…and loved the fact that not only were the concepts very good, but what made it very worthwhile to read was that was it extremely practical. I found it was easy to follow, well organized, included numerous supporting examples to justify the concepts, and of equal importance, it provided tools and guidance for how one could practice developing and honing the skills to be successful At The Margins.I would highly recommend this book for business people, students, as well as anyone looking to improve the impact of their communication (both verbal and non verbal).

Great Communication Resource
This is a great book, and I came across it at the right time. I've been seeking practical communication advice, and this book provided great insights into becoming a great communicator. I especially enjoyed reading chapter 5. It is filled with gems, and I think anyone in the same boat will connect with the "deal with detail" and the four "SO WHAT" sections. "It's important to recognize that when most people make a decision, they do it based on reasons 3 and 4. They justify it based on 1 and 2." Wondering what reasons 1-4 are? Grab the book!
