Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness: Prima Collector's Edition Guide

I suspect that this could be the very last official game guide I get from Prima. Although, Prima left much to be desired in the format of their official guides by comparison to that of Bradygames (who they swallowed up) as well as Piggyback, they have been in the game the longest and have released several nice supplements to games I have enjoyed in the past. This is one of those instances. I am hard-pressed to remember any previous Prima guides that I picked up that were hardcover so that is certainly a redeemable feature of this book and worth acknowledging. Further, the paper of the book is very high quality which is a nice feature as well. The content of the guide is excellent: it is presented in a concise format which quickly allowed for review/skimming and then return to the game. I would strongly recommend this guide for anyone looking to enjoy the world of Star Ocean 5 at a more immersive level.

This guide is pretty nice so far. Step-by-step etc. Comes with 2 letter size Pictures which is pretty awesome. So far following this guide is pretty straight forward. Only complaint is some of the mining/harvesting/fishing points on maps are located In wrong locations as well as where the guide says a treasure chest is. Also concerning Personal Party interactions events, the guide is really vague on what to do. It doesn't effect the gameplay in anyway, but if you want certain roles unlocked or getting the better ending unlocked you have to do these.Other than that good quality guide, happy with my purchase.

Prima's Guide has been improving a lot lately. They are even generously included online guide that you can view on your ipad or your laptop. I mostly brought the guide as a collector's item, so I like to use my ipad for the guide and keep my book nice and clean. The guide has everything you expected of them. It has all the monster informations, character profiles, and detail maps. If you are a fan of the series, then you will be happy what this guide can offered. It labels all the harvest points and what optional quests available. The price is a little expensive for a guidebook where you can pretty much find anything online nowaday but if you are a hardcore fan, then it is a nice item to keep around even just for the artworks.

This is 319 page book that does not actually provide enough details on things it should.Pros:1. Contains some interesting information you can't find elsewhere, like how much ATK/INT damge some characters' basic attack do.2. Contains encyclopedias mainly for trophy purpose, so you can know what you are missing, and the weakness attribute of them.3. Book quality is good(talking about the paper, not content).4. Mentions at least a little bit of everything so you get an idea of how the game works.5. Tells you some relatively efficient ways to do quests.Cons:1. No deep analysis. The book feels more rushed than the game. It is filled with some easy-to-know information, but lacks deep strategies. For example, it tells you how synthesis works, but doesn't tell you how to really take advantage of it. (Some equipments/materials that you can get from synthesis are very useful.)2. Formatting is not optimal. For example, less than 10 maps are needed for the quests because the enemies can be marked in the same map, but the book instead includes one for each quest that needs a map. (Ingame help tells you which map you need to go to already.) Another example is the maps for postgame dungeon, the book tells you which room a teleport point is connected to, but doesn't mark the room with numbers. (It would even much simpler to mark the teleport point with number of the point itself. Like gate2-gate2, so you would know where you will be at after teleporting. Instead, the book choose to tell you that you are teleport to room2, while there is no clear indication of which minimap on the book is room2.)3. Straightly tells you to use the official cheat designed for players who have difficulty beating the game - Deadman(a role that makes a character invincible) to fight the boss in the postgame dungeon. Obviously you can't lose as long as a character does not die. I was expecting some real strategies. It is fine to mention it, but using it as the only strategy is terrible.4. Some typos and errors. Some are easy to tell, like ATK/ATK for ATK/INT. Some are confusing, as some information is missing for a skill, but provided for another skill.Conclusion:You will probably find some of the information helpful, but most of the book isn't helpful for a player that wants a deep understanding of the game.It is most useful for a first-time player that particularly wants step-by-step walkthroughs, but be ready to read tons of texts as the pictures included do not really provide much help. About 3.5-3.8 stars for these players.Some responses about other comments:PA: it is not that important which choice you make as you can use items to modify affinity. It is mentioned in the book, but without an index.Collection Value: Pretty low as it is not an art book, but a strategy book with a lot of screenshots. You will not find any unique art in the book. You do get two slightly smaller than A4 sized posters.Quest rewards: Not needed for the book because you can check them easily in game.

He loves this book. Hubby is playing this game and is excitedly reading the book. He states it has hints and is not as big as the other books but still contains as much information. Between this and YouTube I'm not sure which he uses more to figure something out about this game. He has played all of the Star Ocean games (not that I know how many that is). He says this one is not really any different that the others, nor does it play any different. He also states that if you know the other games you know you will need the book and this is just as good as all the others.

I picked this up with the game at release(love that 20% game discount, go Prime!).So far, I am liking it a lot. I pick up the books more for the references(skills, bestiary, treasure locations, etc) and still prefer to figure out boss strategies/puzzles myself. This book does a great job keeping everything separate with no obvious spoilers or anything like that. The maps are very well laid out, and what is/is not available during certain parts of the game is labeled clearly.If you are looking to get the most out of your first play through(and successive ones, to get that platinum!), this is a solid pickup.

great guide, dont listen to the haters all of the information about achievements is included they just didnt have a chapter outline for where it is, you actually have to read the book.that only downside is ultimate weapon crafting is not very easy with the book, it has a synth guide but you have to bounce back and forth between different sections of the book to get the full picture of what you are making,just use the internet to save time,

Dejando aparte el que esté íntegramente en inglés (cosa que no sorprende puesto que el juego en sí también lo está), la idea no está mal. Te indica a dónde tienes que ir, qué PA's hay disponibles, qué misiones opcionales se activan en cada segmento de la historia y da algunas pistas interesantes.Sin embargo, uno de los mayores problemas, así, de primeras, es que está LLENA de spoilers. En lugar de comentar que tras llegar a tal sitio saltará una escena y seguir con lo que haya que hacer tras ella, la guía te cuenta exactamente qué pasa en la escena y, por si fuera poco, te lo ilustra con imágenes del juego. Una guía no tiene que contarte la historia, pues eso ya lo vas viendo. Para mí es un fallo enorme, porque me da miedo ir leyendo y comerme un spoiler cuando sólo quiero saber a dónde tengo que ir.Por otro lado, la información sobre las PA's es bastante escasa, sobre todo en aquellas que son de respuesta múltiple. Si la respuesta influye en la relación de Fidel con el personaje en cuestión, me gustaría saber cuál es la más adecuada para desarrollarla al máximo y no tener que ir recargando partida cada vez que veo que no he dado una buena respuesta.También veo que la sección de inventos está poco explicada, en especial la parte de Síntesis, que siempre es la más compleja, cansina y, por desgracia, rentable.Para terminar, otro fallo que tiene es que las estrategias que dan para los jefes finales son un poco escuetas y no dan sugerencias de qué roles serían más interesantes para cada enemigo y demás.En cualquier caso, por el precio que tiene y su formato en general (tapa dura, buena calidad del papel, incluye código para versión digital y dos litografías), no es una mala compra

Esta guía, escrita en inglés, es una de las buenas de la marca Prima. Si usaste la de esta casa para el "Last Hope", también te gustará esta, sobretodo porque ha ganado en calidad de edición. Ahora viene en tapa dura de lujo, con primera y última página en papel áspero y las 320 páginas de en medio en color satinado.La guía incluye una sección de dinámicas de juego, personajes, "walkthrough" completo incluído el contenido "post-game", sección de side quests, acciones privados, tesoros bloqueados, así como un compendio completo de objetos, creación y enemigos.En cuanto al "walkthrough" en sí, con imágenes adecuadas, mapas y una estupenda maquetación, el texto en blanco nos explica lo que podemos ir haciendo y los recuadros en color nos dan advertencias, consejos... Por otro lado cada sección nos incluye minifichas de los enemigos que te vas a ir encontrando, y comienza (en el caso de los pueblos), con todo lo que se vende en las tiendas, las tareas opcionales que puedes llevar a a cabo en la zona, etc.Vaya, todo lo que te esperas en una buena guía. Se incluyen también dos cuartillas en papel bueno para colgar o enmarcar, así como un código para acceder a la guía electrónica.

Das Buch selbst ist super. Mich persönlich stört nur, dass das Buch bei der Lieferung einen Knick hat und dieser Makel natürlich die Schönheit des Buches leider vermindert. Bei dem Preis hatte ich eigentlich erwartet es ohne eingenickte Ecken zu erhalten.Dennoch schmerzt mich es deswegen 1 Stern abzuziehen da ich Star Ocean unterstützen möchte und unbedingt mehrere Teile noch sehen möchte.Habe hier nun einige Bilder hinzugefügt die zeigen, in welchen Zustand das Buch bei mir angekommen ist. Ich werde das Buch wohl doch lieber zurück schicken denn Star Ocean ist ein Sammelstück und so eine Bezahle Ware in so einem defekten Zustand ist leider nicht O.K. Was mich wundert ist, dass das Buch sogar an einigen Seiten wie man sieht, Rillen hat die zwar schwer zu erkennen sind aber dennoch vorhanden. Ist dies ein Buch was bereits zurück gesendet wurde oder wie kann dieser Schaden in die Seiten gelangt sein?.

Honestly without this guide I wouldn't have got the stuff I need to do the final dungeon in the game and find some rare crafting materials in the game let alone some other parts. It's very well written and illustrated as are most of these types of guides but the level of details is just sheer impressive from a full walk through to a breakdown of every recipe and private action not to mention where to find those hidden skills you can only get through means like PA and other means. Some I didn't even know about which helped me through the game MUCH easier. Was definitely worth the purchase if not just to look through and you can definitely tell a lot of heart and soul went into this guide.
