STACY ADAMSMen's Wool Derby Hat

Amazing derby, exactly what I was looking for!!!!
This hat looks AMAZING!!! I wanted a good quality non-crushable wool derby/bowler hat and this hat is exactly that. The hat was shipped upside down in a plastic bag which was surrounded by plastic packing pillows in a firm cardboard box... all which kept the hat nice and safe during transport. The feather plume wasn't attached, it was in it's own plastic sleeve, and the pin was in between the hat and the inside liner which was easily retrieved by folding the sweatband down and carefully removing the pin. The only issue with it being packed this way is that the top crushed in a little, which was no big deal. I steamed the area slightly and pushed it back out. Once it was cool, it held the shape perfectly. A quick once-over with a firm brush to fluff up the wool and presto... a perfect derby! All the materials used seem very high quality, and the stitching looks snug. The only problem was the size, yet it wasn't a real problem. I measured my head and I'm right on the cusp of medium and large. I chose large and it was slightly too big; it came down to my ears. I'd planned for this; I was hoping it was going to be slightly big. I didn't want the hat to be squishing my head. I fixed the size by folding some tissue and sticking it behind the inside band. I did this all the way around the hat and it worked perfectly. So, if you're like me and on the cusp of one size and another, get the larger size and use the tissue trick. Overall, I'm VERY impressed with this hat and would have no problem buying another Stacy Adams brand hat.

Great fitting very stiff hat.
Hats are so hard to fit just right and let me put my two cents in on that topic. Personally I measured my head for this one, I didn't stop to think exactly where the hat is going to sit comfortably. I advise to first get that hat that fits just right and measure the inside with a tailors tape, (cloth, fiberglass tapes). One has to imagine that spot and still be able to pull down on the hat a touch to "lock" the hat in place, if you know what I mean by that. I hate it when hats fall off or are blown off, I like 'em to JUST grab my crown. Now, every head is shaped differently isn't it? Another thing is the sizing of hats these days, they used to and sometimes still come in fractional inch sizes but more often than not you're going to find them in S, M, L, XL. I can't remember now what the conversion chart for these said, but my melon dialed in at 22.5 inch and I ordered a large and the hat is 23 inch. It isn't shaped like my head; it's snug front and back, loose on sides but holds my head just right. I also have a Scala Derby, same thing there.I steamed that one and put a strip of leather inside the headband and BAM, perfect fit except the headband has stitching right at the bottom edge and hurts and leaves a noticeable dent in my forehead. Gotta work on that. Stacy Adams hat is far more comfortable. REMEMBER; it's easier to stretch hats a bit because the only way to shrink 'em is with a strip of leather, cork, hat sizing accessory you can buy elsewhere, or like old-timers did---fold a strip of newspaper and stuff it inside the hatband, works every time and in the exact spot.Viva La Hat

GREAT BOWLER!!!
I received this as a gift from my family. Looks to be good quality. I bought the LARGE, and it is a bit too big, but I added some fabric inside, and it fits fine. Rather have it a bit loose than crushing my head. One side was turned up a little too much for my liking, but after watching some YouTube videos on hat-shaping, I went at it with some steam and seem to have fixed the issue. Looking forward to doing my part to bring back handlebar mustaches and bowlers!!!

Great hat, and you CAN shape it.
Before I bought it, I asked if the brim was adjustable, as I wanted it to look a certain way. Someone here suggested a video. I saw one that showed me how to adjust the brim using a tea kettle. It worked wonderfully. Great looking hat, good fit. I'm happy.

Nice hat
I was disappointed in the packaging for shipping this hat. It was simply a plastic bag. The hat is not a crushable hat and it came to me with dents in it. They did pop out but I think that it should have been shipped in a hat box.

Great Derby Bowler Hat
Derby 'Bowler' hats are hard to come by. I was originally nervous about buying one over the Internet, but this did not disappoint. It is a nice quality hat that was worth the money. It fits both straight horizontal & slightly tipped with the back end lower than the front. You can even wear it crooked with one side higher than the other. It stays remarkable stable no matter what slight angle you put it at, thus allowing you to display a little bit of character without running the risk of it falling off.I was surprised at first because it is a bit taller than I expected it to be, but not oddly so. After modeling it for a couple of minutes in the mirror, I completely forgot about the height of it.If you are into period roleplay (Victorian / Steampunk) then this is the hat for you. Don't waste your money on cheap hats that look terrible. Invest the money & you won't be disappointed.

Stacy Adams is snazzy!
Great and as described, a little tight but I think it may loosen with wear. It's great to have a hat that's classy but not as ridiculous as a top hat, and that has not been ruined by hipsters. Great product! I love Stacy Adams!
