Saved my sanity!
This book literally saved my sanity. My boy was 5 months old and had regressed from sleeping every 2-4 hours to waking every 45 minutes in the night with no day time naps. He also relied on both me and his dummy to get him back to sleep. It went on for months and I came across this book and some of the reviews and thought I’d give it a read and a go.Thank god I did! In the space of just a few days I went from literally dreading the night and being so exhausted, to being confident in getting a good nights sleep. I followed what the book said (the bits related to my baby) and almost instantly I noticed a difference!I now have a boy who has 2/3 good naps a day, self settles AND sleeps through the night!!! I completely owe it all to this book and have recommended it to all my mum friends and they too have noticed a difference! The book isn’t intimidating or difficult to understand. It’s small and sticks to the point, rather than bombarding you with lots of different techniques and information. It also doesn’t make you feel like a total failure. When reading, I realised everything I had been doing was wrong, but the book reminds you it’s reversible and helps you to understand why certain techniques work. I would happily call this the baby sleep bible!

Advice against nature
The key message of this book is don’t breastfeed to sleep.Breastfeeding to sleep is biologically normal, and one of the gentle parenting techniques my baby and I both enjoy. It works because this is how our bodies are designed. I joined ‘beyond sleep’ group which is anti sleep training. This book is absolutely not for me. I chose a different route.

Absolute must buy for any new parent. Sleep is too precious to miss out!
Is this the baby sleep book you're looking for? It should be.- There's approachable knowledge in this book that isn't patronising, hard to understand or implement.- The information in the book is science and experience backed which gives me a lot of confidence in implementing it. Namely the gradual withdrawal technique, which is the one I've followed.- This book offers different sleep techniques that are supportive of your child and aid you to get your child into positive habits. It DOES NOT suggest or support the 'cry it out' method.- At under 150 pages the book took between 1 and 2 hours to read, making it perfectly accessible if like me you struggle for time with a baby who doesn't want to sleep!- There are no false promises or bold, showy marketing tricks here. It's just good, honest and personable advice. How did I get on with it then?As I've mentioned it's a quick read meaning my wife and I could get from cover to cover quickly and to start applying our new knowledge. The book doesn't offer an entirely personalised or perfect solution, but that's impossible as every child is different. What it does give is plenty of information in a concise manner, that is followed with solutions and techniques that you can safely and easily use straight away. For context my child was 14 weeks and hated sleeping in her cot (except at nights, putting her down fast asleep and even then it took multiple attempts!) and during the day what naps she would take would be with white noise playing, in the dark and whilst being rocked or bounced constantly. Cue exhaustion and frustration. After two weeks of following the book we have a nap routine which leaves our baby happier and more settled, and that's also made it easier to get her down in her cot at night. I fully expect it'll be another few weeks before all naps can be in the cot, but the gentle techniques encouraged in the book ensure there's no endless crying or sleepless days/nights yet still empower you to take some control back over yours and your child's sleep. It takes a lot of work and there are still some challenges with sleep but no book or programme can offer anything better than this book, just stick with it!Highly recommended and this'll be a gift to all future parents to be we know!

excellent
Really good book. Gave me the confidence to let my baby make noise at night without rushing to feed or soothe them without leaving them to cry either. Still responsive parenting, but also learning that some noise is ok to leave them to self settle. My baby is 9 weeks old now and often sleeps for 7 or 8 hours straight and then another 2 hours each night. Highly recommend this book and have bought it for friends already - no way I'm lending anyone my copy!

This saved my sanity!
This book saved my sanity! My 9 month old had been in my bed since the 4 month regression and woke a minimum of 3 times to feed back to sleep. She would only get to sleep on the boob or bouncing her (pram and car also a life saver).I read this book over 3 nights in bed. It’s short, easy to read and to the point without all the padding gumph. Also amazing if you’re not a fan of the controlled crying method.I used/adapted a method that suited us as a family (comforted baby in her cot without picking her up until she fell asleep).First nap took 45 minutes to get to sleep (wasn’t easy!) Then the night sleep took 35 minutes and had a couple night wake ups, I fed her then put her down awake and waited for sleep (again, not easy and took about an hour...)Day 2 her naps were out of routine time but took less time to settle. Night 2 she slept 9 hours straight!!!!It’s not easy but I stayed with her for comfort and it’s paid off quick. I LOVE this book!
