Fits my uv5r with no gap....see pics.
Well..the gap issue on these radios are not really an issue with the provided clear rubber washer. From reading other comments about still having a gap with the included washer..I instead put the washer on the radio itself stretching the washer abit with no detrimental effect. If you put it on the antenna like everyone does including myself...your first impression...hmm...there's quite a gap there. What if I put it on the radio instead?...voila!! No more gap. It now looks more professional. This is the way to go. 'Additional info: I just took some pics showing the installation with "no-gap" and with "gap".

Great for a compact and short range setup
I put these on my pair of Baofeng BF-F8HP's, and the do work but range is limited. Great for when you want to go super compact. I was able to keep in touch with a friend at 1.5 miles through my neighborhood from inside my home. With the stock battery that comes with these radios, and with this antenna, they make the radios very light and compact which is great for hiking. Terrain in between you and your radio partner will greatly affect reception over a half mile though. If you are using these in an open area, you should get at least 2 miles of good range.

Fell apart on first use
Fell apart on first use.... cover popped right off. Reception was pretty good with only a small amount of reduction from original antenna. If you're going to baby it, it's probably okay, but I went right back to the original antenna and won't bother to replace it with something this fragile.

Good antenna, but check your threads.
Good little antenna. Works fine on our Baofeng UV-5R HTs.Note that it won't connect to a Baofeng UV-3R. This antenna's connector has the threads on the outside, which is what you want on the UV-5R and radios like it. The UV-3R (and radios like it) will needs the antenna's threads to be on the inside. Check your radio and be sure its connector's threads are on the inside. If they are, this antenna is a good choice.

Must Have For Your Daily Users
Much better than the stock antenna I got with my baofeng BF-F8HP considering its shorter it definitely doesn't lack the quality and I use this radio on a day to day basis. So I really do put it through its paces. The thing I really like about this antenna is the fact it doesn't poke me in my side I hate that.

Works Very Well
Easy to install. Unscrew old antenna and screw this one on. Seems to work as well as the original longer antenna, but that is just based on field use, not any comparative testing. Makes carrying the walkie talkie more convenient as it significantly reduces the overall length of the radio. Antenna is quite flexible, as is shown in picture.

I bought 3 of these and made an amazing discovery. They do not fit the UV-82
I bought 3 of these and made an amazing discovery. They do not fit the UV-82. Upon examination I found my UV-82 has a thicker pin and is not sharpened. The antenna would simply not install. It WORKS GREAT on the UV-5R though. I've never had an issue putting antennas on my UV-82 before. This little discovery caused me to carefully examine the hole on all my antennas, and by matching the antenna to the radio I've improved the performance of the UV-5.Apparently there is a difference in the pin size on radios from Baofeng. NONE of my 3 antennas fit the UV-82; but all fit the UV-5R. Presumably an antenna which fit the UV-82 would make questionable contact with a UV-5R so if you are having issues, check this out.Bottom line, this antenna performs well for local communications and if you are running UHF you should not see that much degradation. 2M is a different story, but its still adequate for a flea market, a walk around the block, car to car, or general monitoring of repeaters balanced for mobiles which will have signals 20 dB greater than you have with a short antenna and 4-5 Watts. This is a good price and a worthwhile accessory to have.W7CCE /Len

Great performance for any size antenna.
I needed a short antenna that wasn't poking me in the ribs or snagging on obstacles. This has become my go to antenna for general use. Performance is markedly better than the stock GT-3 and UV-82 antennas, and every bit as good at my Nagoya, ExpertPower and similar long whips.

Poor Fit and finish.
Initially they seemed great right out of the package. But that's where it stopped. After about thirty minutes of use the rubber coating fell off. It's not adventagous of me to send them back and get new ones as I bought two and they both did the same thing. They also don't deal on my Baofeng radio. Maybe filling the cavity with silicone will prevent this. Overall, if you have a Baofeng, I would recommend you not buy this. Delivery was promo but that's the only reason it's not a one.
