Wonderful book!
I really love this book. The real world is difficult enough to deal with so I enjoy reading books like this. I feel happy, lighthearted, feel the love that is shared with all of the characters in this book. Thank you, Ms. Cellier!

Great story as always. Great expectations
Hmm I have read a lot of the old fairy tales but not sure of this one. Might have to look it up. But this story is awesome. Melanie Cellier has really done wonderful writing. I love the swan dresses and the haven concepts. The Godmother's always have that longer view in mind. It makes it interesting. You just never know what's going to happen next.

Whatever happened to Adelaide?
Finally! We get to see what happened to Princess Adelaide, Dominic's sweet sister. She disappeared in the aftermath of their parents' sudden deaths, and two years after Dominic and his bride Sophie were able to lift the curse on him and his kingdom of Palinar she still has not resurfaced. (For the full story on that, read A Tale of Beauty and Beast, book 2 in this series)Turns out Addie wanted to stay gone. Understandably, given the coldness of their upbringing, the trauma of their parents' deaths, and the way Dominic withdrew afterward, Adelaide doesn't trust her formidable older brother's rumored change of heart. She's also under a curse herself, and she'd rather continue existing in obscurity, solving her own problems and keeping the world at arm's length. Certainly she's not interested in anyone rescuing her.Until Crown Prince Gabriel of Talinos comes blundering into her life. Gabe and Addie were friends once, and Addie remembers him as the boy who would take any dare and who loved a challenge. While the man is more tempered and responsible--and more handsome!--than when they were children, Adelaide quickly realizes she won't be able to dissuade him from getting involved in trying to break her curse. Especially when they discover that her curse might have wider implications, and a tie to the strange timidity that has been falling over the people of Talinos for years. One of the best parts of this story was Addie's slow journey to letting people in again. Not just Gabe as a love interest, but the people around her who have become her friends. Addie and Gabe are great characters, very distinct and memorable, with a fun group of supporting characters (who for once are not other royals, which is a nice change).

An amazing story!
I loved the creativity of this story! As I was reading, I was noticing how wonderfully the tale was woven and enjoying every word.Princess Adelaide, the sister of King Dominic from A Tale of Beauty and the Beast, who had been spirited away when she was just thirteen by her godmother when their parents died, was under an enchantment which caused her to lose her voice during the day and be bound to the enchanted lake of swans at night. Her days were spent silently as she served at The Haven – when she attempted to speak, she bugled like a swan instead. In fact, the swans who lived at her lake could understand her.Addie wore her nobility with kindness and humility. Though she would have sacrificed herself for the women she served, she feared trusting anyone fully with her heart.Crown Prince Gabriel had been searching for Addie for quite some time and despite her best efforts to disguise herself, he couldn't help but recognize his childhood friend. This dashing and brave prince was determined to help release her from her prison, despite how enchanting it appeared. I have to say, Gabe was quite charming. I loved his resolve to help Addie in whatever way he could. His valor knew no limits.A Captive of Wing and Feather was full of intrigue and twists. Just when I thought they had broken the spell or were finally going to succeed, something else would happen that was completely unexpected! I was quite caught up in the story and confess that at one point while I was reading, my husband asked me a question and I wondered just how I was supposed to communicate my answer to him. It took me a moment to realize that my voice wasn't the one that was missing.Melanie Cellier's stories are always so enjoyable! If you enjoy fantasy, be sure to read not only this book but the entire Four Kingdoms and the Beyond the Four Kingdoms series.

Reminded me what I love about this series
I was really looking forward to this book because the mystery of what happened to Adelaide had been so central to the overarching story of the series. I was not disappointed in her story, and I loved that this was a very creative and new sort of take on the Swan Lake story. The ballet and Barbie movie used to frighten me a bit as a child (lol yes the animated Barbie movie), and it was interesting to have some of that suspense come back now. What this book really did for me though was remind me why I love these books. I adore Lily and Sophie as characters and their stories, and I have to say I did not feel quite the same love for Celine and Blanche. They were great stories, but I just did not feel as invested in their stories because I did not connect as much to their characters. Adelaide to me felt like the same sort of character as Lily and Sophie. Her flaws and fears felt relatable, and you could understand why she was the way she was. It also was beautiful seeing her learn how to love and forgive again and to open herself up to people.

Adventure and True Love
I loved this latest addition to the Beyond the Four Kingdoms series! Adelaide is a great heroine, full of determination but humble enough to grow and learn as the story progresses. I really liked Gabe as well and almost wished there was more insight into his heart because he turned out to be better than I anticipated. This story is full of action and has a few unexpected twists that make it worth reading to the very end. It also continues to incorporate characters from the other kingdoms flawlessly so the stories connect in ways that make sense and make you eager for the next installment. Another great book by Melanie Cellier.

A Captive of Wing and Feather
A great story and retelling of an old classic. I really became engrossed in the story and found it very enjoyable, the characters were strong and interesting as are all the charecters in the writers Kingdom series. I liked her take on the story making it a must read and not another boring story too similar to the original.
