John Wayne: The Genuine Article

My friend suddenly began a deep dive into everything John Wayne ...watching all his oldmovies and checking out Youtubes about him. I didn't really know anything re JW so Idid a book/bio search. A link to this book came up. Looked for it on Amazon, found it ...read thecomments and bought it, sent it to the friend as a surprise gift. She literally cried...so delightedand sent me pictures of the book. Best and coolest book ever, and definitely the best sourceabout John Wayne she had seen.

I actually saw this book in a gift shop. There was one which my friend bought. I figured I'd check Amazon. Bingo! And $10 less expensive.This is a great book for any fan of John Wayne. Lots of information, and interesting facts about his life. My husband was pleased with the book as was the recipient of my friend's gift.I'd definitely purchase again as a gift.

I HIGHLY recommend this book. I gave it to my father for his 79th birthday. He loved it! The book is so well made, quality paper and tons of beautiful photos. It is so unique, filled with copies letters, certificates and mementos from Mr. Wayne's life. This book totally exceeded my expectations, looking like a MUCH more expensive table book.My father was so impressed he worried that I had spent more then I should. I told him that I got a really good deal. And I did. One of my fathers favorite stories is the time he met John Wayne. Mr. Wayne even sat at the table with him and his friends. Mr. Wayne did not disappoint in his movies and in person. He was a class act. There will never be another man like him.

So I purchased this book in late November 2021 for $5.00. It was listed as Used but New. When it arrived it was still in the original unopened cellophane/clear wrap! I was shocked and wonderfully pleased as I had read the reviews and KNEW I had gotten a fabulous bargain.Well, that feeling faded to insignificance at the incredible pleasure I received at watching my Pops as he unwrapped his last themed gift. I had also purchased a JW calender and JW whiskey tumbler (+something to fill it with😁). He stated repeatedly that it was better than receiving a Cadillac!! The years fell from his face and he was young again!! That was the best gift a daughter could receive! I cannot recommend the book enough and I thank the seller for the gift that passed thru my hands. Excellent Christmas all around!!❤

Bought this book as a gift for my 91-year-old father-in-law, who loves The Duke and watches old Westerns every day. He loves this book. We were impressed by its clever design features: three-dimensional replicas of photos, passports, letters in envelopes, etc. A high quality, special gift for any movie buff.

Forget all the other John Wayne books. This one is an incredible and priceless collection of his own personal correspondence, reproduced exactly as the original documents, on separate sheets attached within the relevant chapters. It is effectively his autobiography in his own words, all through the cooperation and direction of his youngest son, Ethan, who is now the appointed CEO of the John Wayne Foundation. This book is too delicate to be handled by children or your visiting guests, with all the appended documents, such as movie posters, certificates, diplomas, and personal letters from celebrities including several former U.S Presidents. There are exact duplicates of John Wayne's CA drivers license, passport, hunting licenses, membership cards, all intermingled with candid photos of his family and close associates never before released or published. It ends with son Ethan's recalling the day, at age 17, when his father asked him to immediately drive him to the UCLA Medical Center, where John would soon succumb to cancer. This book would be a steal at three times the list price. Insure it when you get a copy for your home library.

So far my favorite book about John Wayne!Boy, could we use a voice of reason like him now! Makes us appreciate and miss him even more!

We purchased this book for a Father's Day gift..much better than a shirt or tie, those traditional gifts because you can't think of anything else! The book is full of stories, anecdotes and copies of some of his personal papers. One item is a marriage certificate..using his given name. If you don't know what his name is, I guess you'll have to buy the book!Of course you can "google" it, but that's not as fulfilling as seeing the many letters, etc. that are contained in the book,including the personal stories. This is a great gift for anyone who is a John Wayne fan.

This is far from being similar to other books on John Wayne that I've read.This contains lots of artefacts and gets closer to the man himself ,what he was thinking and how he felt, why he wore the clothes he did and how he created the John Wayne image. All this is done with lavish full colour pictures and written by his family .It also contains excerpts from John Wayne himself via his unfinished memoirs. Basically it brings John Wayne alive .If you love The Duke you've got to get this and at Amazon price it's also great value for money.

I was greatly surprised with this book. It's got great pictures with so many extras including pull outs, film posters etc. This is a great John Wayne Book, one of the best I've seen or read. You will not be disappointed! Thank you.

Bought this as a Christmas present for Dad - he loved it. For the money it is an excellent book of high quality and he loved all the little details inside and the fold outs. A must for any John Wayne fan!!

my mum loves it! shes a john wayne fan and it kept her amused for hours, lol. she said it had everything in it, lots of snippets of info, collected artefacts, the job lot. another good buy!
