Reading Aristotle is a humbling experience, a stark reminder that intellect exists in tiers—and that some minds, both then and now, operate on a plane far above the average modern thinker. The idea that “men of the past knew things we no longer do” has rarely been so evident. This book is a masterclass in timeless wisdom and analytical depth. This book is not for uninitiated casual readers. One should ideally begin with Aristotle’s Ethics before approaching his Politics. It is neither for beginners nor for the pitiful weaklings of modern liberal phaggotry and progressive thought, whose fragile sensibilities crumble under even a hint of inconvenient truth. Aristotle does not categorically condemn slavery, nor does he hesitate to breakdown the shortcoming of 'Democracy" and assert that it is far from the ideal state. Also extraordinary is Aristotle’s near-total disregard for women in matters of politics and state𝐦𝐚𝐧ship. They appear only sparingly, and when mentioned, it is either to quote a poet—“𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏’𝒔 𝒈𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒚”—or to note that in extreme democracies, demagogues flatter women(and slaves) and grant them "equal rights" precisely because of their susceptibility to manipulation. This will undoubtedly infuriate the self-righteous egalitarian weaklings and the deluded champions of universal suffrage, ruthlessly exposing the emptiness of their modern dogmas. Thus, Aristotle, with unflinching realism, anticipates certain dynamics and shortcomings of the pathetic modern political world while remaining ruthlessly logical and unsentimental—a brutal challenge to the coddled illusions of modernity, and precisely what cements this work as a towering intellectual masterpiece. Do not be distracted by my 3/5 stars. As always, my critique is aimed at local publishers like Fingerprint Classics, whose production quality and editorial rigor often fall short of doing justice to works of such enduring genius. For those serious about engaging with classics at their best, I strongly recommend editions from reputed publishers such as Penguin or Oxford. Cheers.

Aristotle's "Politics" is excellent but complex. It is a challenging book because of its complex structure; it contains excellent ideas and concepts. I recommend you read it once, like I did, put it away, and return to it leisurely a few months later. I assume, of course, that politics and government structure are something you wish to study. You cannot copy every concept and paste it into modern politics. He wrote "Politics" in his times, whereas social structures have changed since then. For instance, a woman today will not accept the notion that a woman's greatest virtue is silence. City-states have morphed into nations with an accompanying complexity. However, the descriptions of the forms of government are useful, and it may be helpful to read the descriptions of tyranny, oligarchy, and tyranny. The basic concepts he outlines in the book are timeless, but you must approach the book with patience. Remember, the complex sentence structure leaves the concepts open to many different interpretations. His emphasis on ethics is a salutary reminder for all of us today.

A must read.

A classic of the political ideas. Hard to read, be patient, because you pick and find substantial fundamental concepts.

Anyone interested in political and/or social philosophy must start with this masterpiece...simply great!
