Awesome time saver
It takes some practice to use it properly. I love how easy it is to use it for priming and painting walls. Instead of using the recommended speed, I only need to set the speed to "1" when I am painting with Sherwin Williams Harmony paint, and only turns it ON briefly until the paint is visible on the roller, then switch it off and start rolling. Too much paint comes out if it is set to be ON continuously and simply I cannot roll fast enough. This machine is great for simple single color painting for a large area or multiple rooms. I still haven't figured out how to use the small roller with the trim guard. Cleaning takes time but OK with soap and water as instructed.Cons:Extension tube is too short and hard to assemble and disassemble. I am under 5 feet tall & definitely cannot reach the ceiling to paint with the extension attached.Update:a) Even though the paint nowaday is quick to dry, I only need to use a garbage bag to wrap up the entire roller apparatus for breaks in between painting sessions. And I did this at the end of work day also. It may not be the best practice, but with glad press seal around the plastic paint lid and around the tube into the paint can, together with wrapping the roller with bags, I can get away without washing the tubes for about 7 consecutive days of painting.b) I washed the assembly by immersing the lid with tube into a bucket of soap + water, and turned on the machine to speed "9" in reverse mode, and let the waste water drain into another bucket in the sink. Then repeated with clean water, air dry and store the machine.

The product works well and the set up is fairly simple. The pump appears strong and it delivers a healthy amount of paint (which you can control). The biggest drawbacks is that it does not come with an extension which makes it cumbersome to use for tall areas and the clean-up process is long and cumbersome. The biggest problem we had was with the supplied roller. It basically disintegrated the first time used as it left pieces of itself on our ceiling. We guess that the seller had a very old unit because after we took a trip to a local do-it-yourself store and we purchased a replacement roller, it worked as it should.

I like painting, so I knew I would end up ...
I purchased this in preparation for a large remodel that included our kitchen, dining room, and living room-1 large area in our open floor plan house. I like painting, so I knew I would end up doing it, and time was not on our side with this remodel, hence this purchase to speed things along. For most things I found it to be pretty awesome.Set-up took no time at all. As per the description it only works with 1 gallon paint cans as it, however you can order a kit to make it work with your 5 gallon pails. If that's something you need I would order this ahead of time and get the 5 gallon bucket kit. The handle has a trigger button that functions as an on/off if you just press it, and if you hold it acts as a trigger to bring paint. On the base is a dial that you can set anywhere from 0-9 to change the speed the paint will be pushed into the tubing. For me personally I preferred to set it on a 4 or 5 and let it run continuously, that way I didn't have to worry about the layer of paint being too thin. I used drywall primer, ceiling flat paint, and a semigloss paint and primer in one with this machine and it handled it well. I used the extension handle and was able to paint 8' walls without a ladder or step stool, and I'm only 5'4" tall. The extension handle does make it a bit heavier, though. Something to keep in mind. I also didn't have to worry about absolute precision at the top of the wall since we are putting crown moulding up. I primed a 14'x36' room in 1.5 hours and painted it in 2 hours. Not too shabby.Doing the ceiling with this was hard for me. I used the extension handle so I could use a step stool, but it made it heavy. I wish there was an extension handle that would allow you to paint while standing on the floor, like an extension pole. I had to do a lot of stopping and starting, so I have a lot of roller marks and will end up repainting. The tubing tends to twist on itself or get caught on everything, which made it harder. The splatter guard was amazing, and I had almost no splattering while painting any surface. If I was taller or my shoulders hadn't been so tired I think using this for the ceiling would have worked better.I used the 3" roller that comes with this in attempts to do the corners and hated it. The little brush thing that comes on the 3" roller does nothing except leave an obnoxious line in your fresh paint. I ended up using a brush and getting the large roller as close in to the corner as I could. Next time I will remove the brush thing (which takes some doing if I recall) and give it another shot.Using the reverse feature to get out the excess paint worked pretty well, although clean-up in general was a pain. After some experimentation I found the best way to clean it was to put a 5 gallon bucket of soapy water in the bathtub, remove the roller cover, and put the handle end over the toilet (seat up), weighted down so it wouldn't go flying, and ran the water through the tubing per manufacturer's instructions. It seemed to take more than a gallon and a half to get things clean-I can't imagine using an oil-based product and having to use mineral spirits to clean it. Cleaning the roller covers was the same as cleaning a disposable one. As a warning, though, these take FOREVER to dry. Like 2 days, even after with squeezing the water out and rolling them in towels. I used one when it was damp and the paint that initially came out was so watery it streaked on the wall and needed a second coat. Do yourself a favor and get some extra roller covers.Overall I really like this, and have already recommended it to several people who have paint projects coming up. We will be repainting our other rooms over the next year in preparation to sell the house and this will come in handy for sure.

Epic fail
I really wanted to like this power roller, and I did for a very short time. It worked well for a couple of hours and then the roller would detach from the pole during use, spewing paint everywhere. The first time it happened, I cleaned everything up and reattached it (thinking it was possibly my fault and that I had not attached it well). This second time my husband attached the roller to the pole (just to have another pair of hands check that it was installed correctly) but, within a few minutes, the same thing happened again. One last time, I disassembled and cleaned all parts per the instruction manual (a very time consuming process). You guessed it, the roller detached from the head once again after the paint started flowing. The design of the attachment is poor--the "hooks" holding the roller to the pole need to definitely be stronger and more secure.Although I rate this product low, Amazon came through with their usually excellent service and promptly issued a refund. A sweet ending to a very messy, difficult evening.

System worked great. Took a bit of time to adapt to the best paint flow but once I got used to it it was a cinch. Cleaning process was a bit long but very thorough and I was able to change colours with no issues. One small piece of advice for users. Don't push the unit around with your foot. I did this and inadvertently kicked the flow switch to reverse without realizing it making me think the paint can was empty when it was still half full.

Yes, it paints faster
Handel is too short to paint ceilings comfortably from the floor unless you are more than six feet tall. Best for empty house, if you have to move around draped furniture and stuff with the hose and extension cords and climb up and down scaffolding it may be simpler to just use a tray and roller!
