It works!
I received the sharpening stone in perfect condition. The packaging was excellent and much more than I expected. I am a complete noob at sharpening knives on a stone, and it took me an hour to get a cheap, dull blade to where I wanted it. Not quite there but very close. Although, I strongly suspected that I already gotten it to where I wanted it during the first ten minutes... then kept messing it up. You have to keep your wrist steady as possible, to the point where you're using your whole body to move the blade rather than your arms. It's true that the rubber mount that comes with this can still slide around when wet, so it takes a bit of work to dry it just right, then it'll be steady.Like everything else, I'm sure it will get easier with practice, and I'm sure I made it more difficult than I had to. YouTube provides some great pointers, but they're all quite variable in the tips and steps they provide to you. However, at least I can say that the cheap, dull blade (that I could never get sharp even with a knife sharpening tool) was successfully made sharp enough to cut through paper. I have another cheap and dull blade I can't wait to practice with. In due time, I'll be able to sharpen any blade in five minutes with this stone.I've made quite a few mistakes. One mistake I made: I kept rinsing off the stone every few minutes, then I read that I wasn't supposed to do that. The "dirty water" that starts forming as you're sharpening is actually GOOD for sharpening your knife. Somehow, it helps with the process, and I have to say that I wonder if I messed up the condition of the stone cuz now there are scuffs that I can't quite rinse off anymore.Another mistake I've made is cleaning this with soap and water. You're not supposed to use any soap or harsh chemical with this product. USE WATER AND BRUSH ONLY!

The best knife sharpener
Finally, I have the perfect tool for the maintenance of my knives that they deserve.I keep an eye dropper by my side, and drop water to keep the stone from drying.I don’t use the rubber base: I use a small wet towel underneath the whetstone directly. In this way, I feel, the stone is kept in place more securely. My almost wrecked knife from various knife sharpeners is in the process of recovering.Thank you for a good product.

Good, couple of comments
This is a solid product for the price. Couple of comments on use:1) It's made of pretty soft material, which means it gets clogged with its own micro-shavings very quickly. Wash it after each sharpening or between knives if you're going thru multiple. I add a small amount of dishwasher soap to help clean it and it helps2) 1000 grit is good for daily kitchen needs but does not get knives to razor sharpness. I add a stroping pass on a different sharpener to finish off the blade, and it really helps.

Sharp knives
I love this item. I sat with a cutting board for support and watched a movie while I sharpened my cutlery set. It worked like a dream. I do not understand any of the negative comments. If you follow the directions, you will get great results.

Absolutely Great Product for Your Buck!
The media could not be loaded. Mine did not bring an angle guide but I think that's okay because I learned pretty fast from YT. My knifes have never been happier. It's great value for your money. The stone quality is good and it works well. It is mostly easy to use once you get the trick. While you could rush the process of sharpening the knife with no problem; I'd rather take my time-- it is quite the peaceful task. I plan on upgrading to 3000-6000 when this one runs out, but I'm sure that won't be anytime soon.
