Excellent stand 4 years later
I have used this stand for 4 years and it still works great.Easily adjustable and maintains a firm hold on the vertical wood strips you'll use.The base corners have holes allowing you to drive through tent stakes to achieve maximum stability even when holding up steel targets against .308 fire. (stakes must be bought separately)Highly Recommend.

IMPRESSED WITH QUALITY
The first thing anyone with welding skills will think is, "I could just make that in the shop," which is true, but it's so convenient just to order one like I did. The stand is very well made and has a nice protective finish on it. It is heavy enough on its own to support a six foot target frame without tipping over in mild to moderate wind. If you needed to stake it down there are holes drilled at both ends of each frame rail for that purpose. Also, depending on how you make up target frames, each half can be separated and used as a single post stand. Inside each post holder are two metal tabs that provide spring resistance to hold the post secure. Before you take the stand out to the range work a target frame post into the holder to spread the spring clips out. You might have to use a flat tip screwdriver to assist you initially, but once the frame post is in, work it back and forth a bit and the next time will be much eaiser. Some reviewers complained that the target shown in the illustration did not come with the metal stand, so understand that before you order. Go to your local hardware store and pick up a bunch of 6' cut stock for about $1.50 each (not the finishing boards - they are more expensive - just the rough cut ones). Make a target frame as crude or as nice as you want, slap a cardboard backer on it and a target and get to training. I was impressed enough with the quality of this item that I ordered a second one, but then, I have no welding skills. :)

a solid no frils product that gets the job done so far.
I bought this stand because our local rang does not like shooters using their target stands for shotgun shooting. That's understandable when your dealing with knuckleheads. With that being said, I was really surprised at how quick it arrived and it was packaged very well. I was even more surprised at how well it worked out for me. I figured I was going to have to sandbag the base or stake it to the ground during normal use. I was wrong. using a 12ga it never even rocked when hitting the target, very pleased with that. But, on a windy day you may need to secure the base down and I can live with that. It's not over heavy and if you feed the poles through the bottom it's very simple to set up. It just works, it's simple and seems well built so far. Dirt can simply be washed off with a water hose. I believe this is a great product and will look at buying a second one.

Not So Good Out Of The Box- Few Minor Improvements- Great!!!
The adjustable metal base is great, a good foundation for a target structure. Just using 1 x 2's as side supports does not offer much stability and or rigidity. However, as seen in the photos, I chose to add 1/4" wood dowels aligned with holes I drilled in 1/4" thick x 2' x4' common plywood (target base) at each corner. The dowels were glued into the 1 x 2's. Placing a target of choice and a couple of spring clamps onto the target frame makes this target sturdy and still very portable. Easy disassembly and still manageable for carrying. In addition even with a mild wind, metal stakes (12") used for camping work great when placed through the holes in the base and driven into the ground. This was an awesome purchase, and an additional $5 to $10's will provide for a great target structure depending on your imagination and or creativity!!!

Great Target Stand-broken spinner screw
Good target holder. No need for instructions. I bought 2 to add to a 200yd personal range. I picked out 4 (and 2 spare) 8’-1”x2” straight (hand picked) boards, marked off 24” and chopped all at once with a chop saw. Inside the pockets for boards, are 2 pieces of metal, that pinch the 1x2’s.Push one side of the end of each board, and stick a straight blade screwdriver under the other pincher, bend it out, and the 1x2 pushes right in. take one piece of your 1x2 cut-off piece, and nail it (small nails or split) accross the BACK of the tops of the installed, 6’ 1x2’s. Using the length of the cut-off pieces, I adjusted the bottom width to the same, and it worked perfectly. I bought some rectangular pre-cut cardboard, (24”x36” <I think>)and a roll of white police sillouets,(sp?)and stapled away. One small problem was one of the spinner screws to hold the boards tight was pushed through. No prob. Homey Dee. I guess I lucked out and got the last one for $19, shopped around for the 2nd, and they were $30ish elsewhere, and i went back to the same item on Amazon/Whole Foods, and it was re-priced at $30ish.

100% These are great!!!
These are great!! I have used some of the welded USPSA IDPA 18" stands, and saw these and decided to give them a try. The previous reviewer about having to bend the springs in the leg openings is wrong, ...... you merely put one edge of the 1x2 in and press the lip of the spring back and then rotate the other edge down and in........ The other thing, is that new shooters may not realize that at Home Depot and Lowe's, 1x2 furring strips come in exterior and interior styles.... for shooting and target stands, you need the interior finished strips.....I made the same mistake and bought the bigger exterior sticks and they don't go in easily.......... compare the two at Home Depot lumber and you will see the difference.Went together easily, has stakedown holes should wind be a problem (Colorado...duh) and are easily adjusted to your target or cardboard width. I looked at buying more locally of my welded stands and am glad I bought these. I use a total of 8 for training classes and I appreciate the lighter weight........ only wish they were US made instead of China........
