Linden Sweden-Jonas of Sweden Cone-Shaped Beech Wood Pestle, 9-3/4-Inch

Like some other reviewers, I purchased this pestle to work with the Matfer 17360 Exoglass Bouillon Strainer. While it's obviously a nicely made pestle (as it should be for the price), the working length of the cone is less than 6" while the straining mesh of the Matfer is over 7" in depth. In short, the pestle is usable with a strainer or china cap of this size, but the Linden 13" pestle would probably be a better fit. I'll be returning this to find out.

It works well, but it is slightly small. If you are using the china cap and using hot ingredients the steam might get you, it would be nice to have a longer thinker handle.

This is a good quality pestle. It is a little more expensive than some others.It is sometimes difficult when buying items from Amazon to gauge exactly how large/wide something is.I originally bought another pestle for my Chinous but the included angle of the cone was not sufficient to allow it to fully contact with the mesh because the top of the Chinous angled inwards and it interfered with the handle of the pestle.This pestle has a higher included angle (larger diameter at top end) in the cone and should fit more styles/brands of chinous than other pestles.I should point out that Amazon were amazingly good (as always) at returning the original pestle - tx.

It is a perfect fit for the Chinois. My only complaint is the surface has gotten very "roughed up" after cleaning.

I'm a foodie and home chef and I have to have all my tools. I make my own veal/beef/chicken/fish stocks and I use this to strain and press the stock through my fine chinois to get a nice clear stock. Works just great and makes me proud after I go through my production for making my stocks. I've only used it with my 8" chinois, which is pretty big. Need to find a smaller one too for a smaller china cap.

Nice quality. Sturdy wood.

It's one thing to have a good China cap or Chinos, its another to make sure everything is pushed through. The pestle ensures your project strains the maximum properties from your project. I will not attempt to strain anything of value without it.

This was purchased for use with my Matfer 17360 Exoglass Bouillon Strainer. It works perfectly for straining yogurt or fine gravies.
