Please remember that one side of an ABS lock is dedicated external and the other internal; the internal side is the thumb turn side. Avocet ABS locks are clearly marked 'EXT' on the external side for easy fitting. The easiest way to measure your old euro cylinder lock is to remove it from your door, taking note which end is external.Measurement A (Internal, the thumb turn side): Measure from the internal side to the centre of the screw hole. A = 40mmMeasurement B (External): Measure from the external side to the centre of the screw hole. B = 50mmThe cylinder size you would need to order in this example case is 40mm Int 50mm Ext

good product, terrible customer service on failure
The vendor of this product are terrible.Had my lock for only 21 months and it failed from the inside; the key would no longer turn. This left my house UNSECURE.I called Avocet to explain and ask for advise about a refund or replacement. I was stopped whilst explaining the issue. As I purchased this from another party and not directly from them, they WILL NOT honour the 5 year guarentee and I need to contact the vendor, Amazon. There was no empathy shown and they didn't care about the safety issue to my young family who were home at that time.Have already replaced with a better, reputable-branded product.Amazon as always were amazing with their assistance.

Great mid-range mid-cost and no door modification required
Awesome locks. They have always been my go-to for medium security/cost applications. The fact there is a tool available that opens them in seconds is a bit of a minus for them, so I have been considering switching to the Yale Platinum for a while, but the Yale has the downside that you have to do some drilling to most doors to make them fit.In the absence of a good range of euro cylinder sizes from Abloy, these and the Yale Platinum are as good as they get. (If you do have a door that can fit an Abloy it's also 3x the cost)If you are tempted by the flashy marketing on the Ultion locks, beware! I can pick them and I'm not a good picker!

Excellent product, value for money and great peace of mind...
Great quality product....I have bought two Yale locks, along with the ABS lock for external doors, all with anti-snap. This lock by far seems to be more quality made, robust and easy to insert the key...Was extremely easy to order additional keys with the code supplied with the lock and installation literally took less than 2 minutes and that's without much experience with screw drivers.Would definitely recommend the product, as is extremely secure, well made and looks both of these too..! I had the thumb turn variety to ensure any issues (fire etc) it was easy for both myself and my young family to escape without hunting around for a key...!

AMAZON PACKING???
As expected lock perfect. However the very inner box containing the actual lock had been ripped open before packing into outer sleeves. Fitting instructions had been removed. This should have been spotted at AMAZON. My lock security, its reference number and code cold have been compromised before it left premises of AMAZON., a company that we are all lead to be totally trustworthy. Is it??

Good mid-range lock - more secure than most, ideal replacement anti-snap lock
If you've never changed a Euro Cylinder lock it's usually a very simple job, literally a couple of minutes with a screwdriver and you are done. I say 'usually' as in my instance there was an additional hidden grub screw holding the existing one in place, which only became apparent once i disassembled the whole lock assembly (something I hadn't seen covered in the various YouTube tutorials - I think this may be unique to the Winqhaus multipoint locking system on the door. It meant even with the locking screw removed the lock was stuck fast, which was a bit of a pain until I sussed out what was going on and found the grub screw and was able to remove it with an allen key. Despite that setback it was still a simple enough job to change it, and anyone that's even vaguely competent with a screwdriver will have no issues. As for the lock itself, it's anti-snap anti-bump etc. The cold hard fact of the matter is no lock is every going to be totally secure, and there are tools to defeat this lock available, but it offers more protection than most for the price point. At the end of the day it's about making your property more hassle that others to get in, and slowing down entry to people even with the right tools to defeat the lock. Burglars are for the most part opportunists who are looking for an easy target. If they come across this they you've got a fighting chance of them moving on to another property which presents less of a challenge (an old style snappable lock can be opened in seconds)The lock comes with 3 keys (as they are not as long as those on the Yale Platinum locks at a similar price point, which is a plus for me) and a key card to get more.If you are looking to change your lock for one with anti-snap features (and you really should as that's the method of entry in a quarter of all burglaries according to statistics) then this is a great lock for the price.

Great lock, poor reliability!
Whilst expensive (including an additional 5 keys cut), the lock was advertised as one of the safest. I have absolutely no doubt in its abilities to protect and felt safer once this lock was fitted. The lock was easy to install and worked well for just over two years. The keys and lock felt of excellent quality, and I fully recommend them for security.Bought in Jan 2018, it was only recently in Dec 2019 we found the key would become stubborn to remove from the barrel. We used some graphite to lubricate, but this made no appreciable difference. It is now April 2020 and one of the keys jammed inside the lock and was refusing to turn. I managed to get the lock to turn with the use of WD-40 to remove the barrel, but the key remainly stubbornly in place. On closer inspection looks like internal debris from the door handle has entered the barrel from above and seized up the lock. What utter rubbish for the price paid. You'd expect it to last longer and at least have better protection along the top from general abrasion debris. Now replaced with a Yale Platinum (never had longevity issues with these in the past) and also looks to be covered on the top half of the barrel, so should protect from internal debris.Whilst the Abs seems to feel like a more secure lock (only a feeling), I'm not spending another £80 on one of these. If you want longevity, avoid this, and stick with Yale.
