Acme Ireland Queen Storage Bed in Black

The bed is sturdier than I was expecting, which is a plus. I've been searching for a captain's bed for a couple years and this was by far the best price I could find with it still being a quality bed. I happened to see this on sale and I'm so happy I did. As some other reviewers mentioned, it is rather high, so do expect that when you order. It does take a good bit of assembling, so be prepared to spend a couple hours or so. The directions were fairly clear, but the only thing that was a bit unclear was that the cross pieces have to be placed at a certain width apart so the length wide boards can be screwed into them.

I was able to put it together quickly with one minor glitch. I used two of the cross braces for back braces but realized it before writing the company to chew them out. I'd say it's a guy thing not reading the instructions thoroughly but I have to say that the illustrations could be improved as well. Looks good and is tall so mattress thickness should be s consideration of her a stool.

1st I would like to say this turned out to be a beautiful bed. I will say that hopefully you are good at assembling and figuring out what is what, none of the pieces were marked. Why in this day and age are people still using Styrofoam, I already worked my butt of assembling this, then it takes forever to get all the Styrofoam picked up. I also had to fix pieces that were broken during shipping. The bed arrived fast in 4 big, heavy boxes. A large portion of the bed is particle board but I had expected that for the $500 I paid. All the black finishes came without any scratches or dents. An inside wood piece (drawer support) did come completely broken, however, which has been a bit of a pain. I had to contact ACME who sent out a new part, but sent the wrong size. Ended up waiting several weeks before finally getting the correct, unbroken part. Besides the broken part, the bed was fairly straightforward to put together. One of the drawer pulls wasn't long enough for the drawer so my husband had to countersink it, which is annoying. The bed isn't super sturdy but we are hoping when we put in the new part inside the bed (we have been using it without the drawers while we waited the 2 weeks) that it might be more sturdy. All in all, for the money I think we made a good purchase and my son really LOVES the bed!

I love the way it looks and how much storage the bed has itself. The most important piece of the bed broke easily and that was the middle supporting foot. The bed dipped in the middle and for a few years of sleeping on the bed and the frame being in poor shape, my back has been aching for too long. The bed is very squeaky, not sturdy, comes apart easily, and the boards that go across the frame to support the mattress are too flexible and flimsy. I am very upset with the product compared to its price. Please consider buying something else.

SUCH WASTED POTENTIAL. The how-to-assemble instructions are hard to read, but that's not the worst problem...YOU NEED A DRILL, AND IT NEVER MENTIONS IT. ANYWHERE. IN ANY OF THE LITERATURE. I was so excited to receive this bed, because it looks gorgeous! Then I went to assemble it....and one of the support beams was twisted sideways. Ok, it happens, wood isn't perfect. Then my friend and I discovered that these supportive corner pieces couldn't lay flat as they were supposed to, due to notches in the wood being placed incorrectly prior to packaging. But honestly, the worst part was having to drill holes for 75% of the screws. The ones that needed you to use a screwdriver of your own were completely missing, and there are a LOT of them. They were also in places that are extremely difficult to access; tight corners, etc. Basically, shoddy construction, with a lot left for the consumer to do, and a lot of mistakes that the consumer must accommodate for.The side pieces are also chipboard with a thin wood veneer painted black. It looks gorgeous, but flakes off really easily, so don't let ANYTHING bump into it. The core pieces are sturdy, but again...a LOT of work to actually put together. Took about 4 hours with 3 people, and we're not amateurs to putting furniture together.This is so NOT worth the price. Honestly, if it wasn't so much trouble to return something so big, I might have done so. If this was $200 it probably would have been worth it, but I feel extremely cheated.

Love everything about this, except that I wish I would’ve gotten a King!! And that I know if I ever move I won’t be able to take it with me because its huge and I don’t think you can disassemble it and put it back together. I love that it doesn’t need a box spring, and there is ample storage!

This product is exceptional. I read the reviews first so I was expecting this to be a high bed. I almost need a stool to climb in but it’s great for a small room with little storage space. It’s very easy to assemble. The instructions in a couple of places weren’t clear but the pictures that were included made them easy to follow. The bed itself was fast to assemble, unpacking all the pieces took up most of the time! This is just perfect for what I needed it for. My dog loves it too!!
